Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Finance, or related fields.
• 3-5 years of experience is generally expected for a Cost Engineer.
• Strong understanding of construction processes, contracts, and cost estimation techniques.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and detailed cost estimates for projects based on the scope of work, materials, labor, and other required resources.
• Assist in developing project budgets and funding plans.
• Monitor project expenditures to ensure they align with the approved budget.
• Identify potential cost overruns and take corrective actions.
• Prepare and update cost control reports regularly.
• Evaluate and process change orders and claims, ensuring that any additional costs are accounted for.
• Assess the impact of scope changes on project costs and timeframes.
• Assist in identifying and analyzing financial risks that may impact project budgets.
• Recommend mitigation strategies for cost-related risks.
• Work closely with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and contractors to ensure cost-related issues are addressed.
• Communicate cost-related information to stakeholders in a clear and timely manner.
• Analyze historical data and trends to identify opportunities for cost savings.
• Conduct cost-benefit analysis to recommend cost-effective solutions.
