Qualifications

Position Overview

The Senior AI Engineer will design, develop, and deploy AI-driven solutions across the organization while working directly within a live production codebase. This role combines senior software engineering expertise with practical, advanced use of LLMs, AI agents, automation, and AI-assisted development.

We are looking for an engineer who has genuinely changed how they work through AI—not someone who simply uses AI coding tools for occasional autocomplete. The ideal candidate can direct AI agents through complex engineering tasks, validate their output, and use sound judgment on when to trust AI and when human intervention is needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain AI agents, skills, and automation workflows using platforms such as Claude, OpenAI, Copilot, Gemini, and Convey.
• Develop AI/NLP solutions for classification, summarization, entity extraction, and conversational workflows.
• Integrate AI solutions with APIs, databases, EHR/PM systems, CRMs, and other enterprise platforms.
• Work across a production TypeScript codebase, including NestJS backend and Next.js frontend.
• Use agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, or similar platforms as part of the development workflow.
• Prototype, test, evaluate, and improve AI solutions based on performance and user feedback.
• Make architecture and technical decisions while balancing speed, reliability, security, and maintainability.
• Apply appropriate security, privacy, and compliance practices, including HIPAA/PHI requirements.
• Collaborate with leadership, IT, and operations to identify and implement high-value AI use cases.
• Document solutions and provide guidance on effective AI-assisted development practices.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, with Staff, Lead, Principal, or equivalent senior-level experience.
• Strong TypeScript experience across backend and frontend development.
• Strong experience with NestJS and Next.js is highly preferred.
• Proven hands‑on experience with agentic AI coding tools, beyond basic autocomplete or code generation.
• Experience with LLMs, AI agents, APIs, Python, JSON, SQL, and automation frameworks.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts such as classification, embeddings, supervised/unsupervised learning, and model evaluation.
• Familiarity with NLP tools/frameworks such as LangChain, HuggingFace, or spaCy.
• Experience integrating AI into production or enterprise systems.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system integrations, testing, and security.
• Ability to determine when AI-generated work can be trusted and when it requires human review or intervention.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, documentation, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Healthcare, revenue cycle management, or other regulated-industry experience.
• Experience with EHR/PM systems such as AdvancedMD.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP.
• Experience with workflow automation, RPA, or scripting.
• Experience building production-grade AI systems or agents.
• Experience establishing or improving AI-assisted development practices within an engineering team.
