Job summary

Ingram Micro, Inc. is seeking a Database Reliability Engineer to ensure the reliability, performance, and availability of our database platforms. You will support production, implement changes, and resolve incidents across teams.

The role requires hands-on Oracle/PostgreSQL/MySQL experience, HA with Dataguard, cloud knowledge, scripting, and ITIL practices. You will document, monitor, and optimize capacity in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge on Linux/Unix administration.
• Strong knowledge on Database architecture.
• Hands-on experience on Oracle (Single instance and RAC) and/or PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
• Strong hands-on experience on Dataguard and other high availability and replication setup.
• Strong knowledge on Cloud technologies (GCP, Azure, AWS).
• Strong understanding of database backup and recovery.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning concepts.
• Demonstrated scripting skills (shell, Python).
• Strong understanding of information systems and data structures.
• Strong knowledge of monitoring tools (OEM, Datadog, Cloud native monitoring).
• Strong knowledge in database security, access provisioning, audit and database entity-relationship.
• Ability to perform database installations, configurations, upgrades, patching and migrations based on established procedures.
• Good understanding of ITIL standards, processes, and concepts.
• Strong ability to analyze problems and prioritize, elevate as needed.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multi-task and prioritize multiple initiatives.
• Solid documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Ensure reliability, performance, and availability of the database platform to support business strategy, vision, and goals.
• Handle incoming service requests, implement changes on production/non-production environments, resolve incidents and drive movement of multiple team queues.
• Validate and resolve database related events and alerts, implement database monitoring configurations as required and ensuring stakeholders are informed.
• Participate in fulfilling documentation requirements, proactive incident management, provide knowledge transfer and periodic reporting.
• Facilitate weekly team meetings and report on capacity planning using monitoring tools.

Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for ensuring reliability, performance, and availability of the database platform to support business strategy, vision, and goals. Responsible for database service and support, and physical database design and implementation. Handle incoming service requests, implement changes on production/non-production environments, resolve incidents and driving movement of multiple team queues including representing the team in high severity bridge. Validate and resolve database related events and alerts, implement database monitoring configurations as required and ensuring that all stakeholders are informed. The candidate will also participate in fulfilling documentation requirements, proactive incident management, provide knowledge transfer and carry out periodic reporting requirements required by the team, facilitate weekly team meetings. Reporting cover periodic capacity planning including recommendations based on interpretation from various tools and alerts.
