Job summary

The Hackett Group is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Engineer with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in both backend and frontend development. You will design, develop, and maintain high-performance web applications, focusing on scalable server-side services and responsive client interfaces.

Ideal candidates have expertise in Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS) and/or Python (FastAPI/Django/Flask), REST APIs, cloud deployments on AWS, and strong knowledge of design patterns, testing, and agile

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in full‑stack development.
• Proficiency in building backend services and APIs using Node.js/TypeScript (NestJS) and/or Python (FastAPI, Django/Flask).
• Experience designing scalable, resilient services (service boundaries, data modeling, caching, messaging, observability, and performance considerations).
• Strong knowledge of SOLID principles, design patterns, and clean code practices.
• Experience applying DDD concepts (bounded contexts, aggregates, entities/value objects, domain events).
• Strong understanding of REST API design (resource modeling, versioning, pagination, error handling, idempotency, and documentation).
• Experience with OAuth2/OpenID Connect, IdP concepts, and basic cryptography (hashing, encryption, signing).
• Experience deploying applications on AWS and cloud-native patterns.
• Hands-on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and release processes.
• Unit testing expertise and automation practices.
• Agile collaboration and code reviews.

As a Full‑Stack Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining our web applications, ensuring high performance, responsiveness, and seamless user experiences.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design and implement end‑to‑end solutions, bridging the gap between the frontend and backend aspects of our applications.
• Develop robust and scalable server‑side applications, APIs, and databases using cutting‑edge technologies and frameworks. Ensure high performance, security, and reliability of backend systems.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of REST API design (resource modeling, versioning, pagination, error handling, idempotency, and documentation).
• Experience with OAuth2/OpenID Connect, Identity Providers (IdP) concepts, and basic cryptography concepts (hashing, encryption, signing, key management).
• Experience deploying applications on AWS (e.g., compute, networking, storage, IAM) and working with cloud‑native patterns.
• Hands‑on experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (build, test, security checks, deploy) and release processes.
• Solid knowledge of unit testing (test design, mocking, coverage) and experience with automated testing practices.
• Code reviews, refactoring, documentation, observability, and collaboration in an Agile environment.
• Expertise in modern frontend frameworks, such as React, Angular, Typescript, or Vue.js. Strong HTML, CSS, and JavaScript skills.
• Experience with relational and non‑relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).

Nice to Have

• Deeper experience with Machine Learning, neural networks, prompt engineering, and LLM fine‑tuning/training and deployment.
• Familiarity with LLM fundamentals, prompt engineering, embeddings/vector search, and integration of AI capabilities into applications.
• Proficient in Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, and GCP) and experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
