Job summary

OpenText in Manila is seeking a Senior Accountant to ensure the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting. The role covers journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and close deliverables, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and audits.

The successful candidate will have 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, US GAAP knowledge, CPA in progress preferred, and strong Excel and SAP skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation or progress toward CPA is preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience with US GAAP knowledge.
• Experience with journal entries, reconciliations, analyses, and month-end close.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries, estimates, and accruals per US GAAP and policy.
• Manage month-end close with detailed balance sheet reconciliations.
• Maintain high-quality reconciliations with timely issue resolution.
• Analyze financial results with MoM and QoQ variance explanations.
• Research accounting issues, identify root causes, and propose corrective actions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders across functions for accurate reporting.
• Support SOX controls with proper documentation and evidence.
• Assist audits by providing schedules and information requests.
• Drive process improvements in accounting workflows and controls.
• Provide guidance to team members through knowledge sharing.

This position is responsible for performing a broad range of accounting activities, including the preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analyses, and close-related deliverables. The Senior Accountant works independently to support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements, assists with audit and compliance activities, and helps strengthen financial processes and controls. You Are Great At

• Preparing and recording journal entries, estimates, and accruals in accordance with US GAAP and Company policies.


• Managing month-end close responsibilities, including the completion of detailed balance sheet reconciliations.


• Maintaining high-quality reconciliations that are accurate, thoroughly documented, and supported by timely resolution of outstanding items.


• Analyzing financial results through month-over-month and quarter-over-quarter reviews of assigned balance sheet and income statement accounts and providing meaningful explanations for variances.


• Researching and resolving accounting issues, identifying root causes, and recommending corrective actions.


• Collaborating with business partners and stakeholders across multiple functions to support accurate accounting and reporting outcomes.


• Executing internal control activities and supporting SOX compliance requirements through proper documentation and evidence retention.


• Assisting with internal and external audits by preparing schedules, responding to inquiries, and facilitating information requests.


• Driving enhancements to accounting processes, controls, workflows, and documentation to improve efficiency and effectiveness.


• Providing guidance and day-to-day support to team members through knowledge sharing and collaboration.


• Participating in special initiatives, including system implementations, business integrations, and process transformation projects.

What It Takes

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation (or progress toward completion) is preferred.


• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, including strong knowledge of US GAAP.


• Demonstrated experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, financial analysis, and month-end close processes.


• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.


• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.


• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.


• Self-motivated and capable of working independently while contributing to overall team success.


• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey financial information clearly and concisely.


• Sound professional judgment and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.


• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.


• Experience working with SAP is required.
