Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Section Head, this role is responsible for implementing approved maintenance and calibration programs, work instructions, and guidelines. The primary goal is to ensure the quality, safety, and trouble-free operation of production equipment. The position also involves formulating work instructions and guidelines for the operation, preventive maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting of production equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Parts Controller Activities:
  • Ensure that the job objectives are communicated to and properly executed by subordinates.
  • Assess and update objectives as needed.
  • Prepare requisitions for maintenance materials and supplies.
  • Assure that completed activities meet the requirements of the serviced section.
  • Participate in preventing and controlling waste in supplies, energy, manpower, and overhead costs.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Complete and present inventory information to management for efficient decision-making, which may involve restocking.
  • Manage spare parts and maintain adequate minimum stock levels to ensure uninterrupted supply.
  • Establish and control stocking levels for parts and equipment using a computerized inventory system.
  • Perform periodic cycle counts and physical inventory audits.
  • Prepare purchase orders for parts and equipment.
  • Receive and unpack parts, verifying the accuracy of shipments from vendors, part numbers, and quantities.
  • Receive, tag, stock, and disburse parts to technicians according to policy and procedure.
  • Housekeeping and Safety:
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the stock room and perform routine housekeeping duties in the part room, shop, and work area.
  • Maintain and keep current Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and the SDS log.
  • Investigate and reconcile inventory reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Implementation of IMS and GMP:
  • Implement an Integrated Management System (IMS) and Good Housekeeping/Manufacturing Practices (5S and GMP).
  • Strictly follow and ensure that policies and practices are understood and conformed to, including the IMS/QHSSE Policy, Housekeeping (5S, GMP), and Safety (PPE, SDS/MSDS, signs/warnings, work permits).
  • Conduct orientations for new workers on plant safety programs, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Attend safety meetings/toolbox meetings regularly.
  • Conduct Aspect/Impact and Hazard/Risk assessment reviews annually or as needed.
  • Conduct daily inspections of the work area, report any safety issues, unsafe acts, or conditions, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure the enforcement and implementation of corrective, preventive, and improvement action plans in the workplace.
Qualification and Education Requirements:
  • Education:
  • A 2-4 year degree program in any stream; technical knowledge is an added advantage.
  • Skills:
  • Knowledge of computer applications such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
