Job summary

Orca Intelligence is seeking a Junior Software Quality Assurance Analyst to join our remote, evenings-focused team. You will execute manual tests against our C# web portals and Azure services, document defects in Jira, and support rapid, reliable releases.

Work hours align with 8am–4pm EST, with collaboration across a distributed North American team and continuous improvement of test artifacts in Confluence.

Qualifications

• 1–4 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing.
• Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience writing and executing manual test cases for web applications.
• Understanding of QA concepts, the SDLC, and defect tracking.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for data verification (SQL Server or Azure SQL).
• Familiarity with C# or .NET applications is an asset.
• Experience with Jira and Confluence, or similar tracking tools.
• Prior experience working a fixed North American-hours schedule is an asset.

About the role

The Junior Quality Assurance Analyst (Remote) supports the quality assurance process across Orca’s C# web portals and Azure-hosted audit engine, working fully remotely on a fixed schedule aligned to Eastern Time (Canada) to maintain complete overlap with the Toronto-based team. This role focuses on manual and exploratory testing — executing test cases, verifying fixes, performing regression passes ahead of releases, and documenting defects — working against the test plans and test case library owned by the Quality Assurance Engineer. The Junior Quality Assurance Analyst is accountable for careful, consistent execution of assigned test work and for clear, reproducible, well-written defect reporting that lets developers resolve issues quickly without additional back-and-forth.

What you'll do

• Execute manual and exploratory test cases against Orca’s C# web applications and Azure-hosted services
• Perform assigned regression testing ahead of releases and verify bug fixes once delivered
• Record clear, reproducible defects in Jira with detailed steps, expected versus actual results, and supporting evidence
• Follow existing test plans and test cases, and flag gaps or unclear requirements to the Quality Assurance Engineer
• Keep test cases and test documentation current in Confluence as application behaviour changes
• Assist in reviewing requirements and user stories to understand expected behaviour
• Track assigned defects through to resolution and re-test once fixes are delivered
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date test records and status in Jira
• Maintain reliable availability and clear written communication in Teams during Eastern Time business hours
• Build familiarity with Orca’s applications, the .NET stack, and the team’s testing tools under mentorship
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
• Escalate quality risks and blockers to the Quality Assurance Engineer or Manager in a timely manner
• Other projects, duties and initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

1–4 years of experience in software quality assurance or software testing

Post‑secondary education in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Demonstrated experience writing and executing manual test cases for web applications

Understanding of software QA concepts, the software development lifecycle, and defect tracking

Basic knowledge of SQL for verifying data (SQL Server or Azure SQL) is an asset

Familiarity with C# or .NET applications is considered an asset

Experience with Jira and Confluence, or similar tracking and documentation tools

Prior experience working a fixed North American-hours schedule is considered an asset

Compensation

This position works hours of 8am to 4pm EST. We offer a market-leading total rewards package with the expected range of the annual salary to be between $ 535,500 to $713,500 PHP annually
The final salary is influenced by the location of the incumbent and may fluctuate based on the qualifications, skills, and market considerations, ensuring alignment with internal and external pay equity standards.
