Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Software Engineer to develop software solutions across the SDLC, collaborating with the Technical Manager and Scrum Master. You will help refine backlogs and user stories, design solutions, and ensure timely delivery with a focus on secure distributed applications.

The role requires strong .NET/C#, SQL, JavaScript/TypeScript, Angular, and DevOps experience, with a commitment to continuous learning and team growth.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years IT experience in a software development environment
  • Experience in project management
  • Experience in system design and building secure distributed applications
  • Proven analysis, design, and programming experience
  • Solid technical knowledge in Microsoft .NET and related technologies
  • Solid ability to understand database structures and be able to manipulate, extract, and update data
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in web services, Web Api, RESTful services, microservices and API security best practices
  • Experience developing Windows services
  • Experience creating stored procedures, database views, triggers, indexes
  • Clear understanding of Object-Oriented Programming and distributed system architecture

  • CSS3, HTML5, AngularJS, Angular, and modern web frameworks

Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of Software Engineer is to develop software solutions in accordance with assigned projects and sprint goal. Software Engineer also works closely with the Technical Manager and Project Manager/Scrum Master towards backlog and user story refinement. Software Engineer shall have deep understanding of complete software development life cycle and shall possess demonstrable ability to work independently.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Software Development - Complete programming and system analysis tasks as assigned by Technical Manager
  • Design and Estimate - Based on requirement definitions, recommend solutions with pros and cons. Create design documents with estimates of time to complete
  • Work with Technical Manager to review requirements and design documents to ensure that project deliverables are met
  • Project Delivery - Identify and communicate issues or risks with project deliverables
  • Recommend possible technical solutions for issues and/or problems encountered when work on a project
  • Application Support - On an as needed basis, provide user support for business applications. Effectively communicate with users to answer questions and resolve urgent requests
    Work with lesser experienced staff to help them improve their development skills and craft
  • Bring 'continuous improvement' and learning mindset to the team and encourage learning and professional growth in others

  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment).     • Ability to see the big picture and the impact of changes to all parts of the system. Ability to quickly code and test the changes
    • As a technical resource, ability to mentor junior programmers on how to improve their technical skills

    • .NET Framework 3.5 - 4.8, .NET Core, and .NET 8/10
    • Service-Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Service Bus - NServiceBus, MSMQ, RabbitMQ, Kafka

    • NUnit, Test Driven Development (TDD)
    • NHibernate, Dapper, Entity Framework or equivalent ORM experience
