HowNow in India is seeking a Senior Ruby on Rails developer to build full‑stack features and turn customer needs into working software. You will design and maintain Rails code with a focus on quality, collaboration, and scalable architecture.

The role emphasizes problem solving, attention to detail, and curiosity, plus practical use of AI tools such as GitHub Copilot to improve productivity. Hybrid work applies with in-office days.

Qualifications

• 3-6 years of experience developing scalable and robust web applications using Ruby on Rails.
• Strong experience with collaborative code development in small agile teams and managing releases (Git, Continuous Integration, Capistrano).
• Analytical mindset with problem solving, attention to detail and curiosity.
• Demonstrated ability to leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for higher productivity, including crafting prompts and AI-assisted tasks.

Responsibilities

• You’ll develop new full-stack features, working closely with the Product Manager and other members of the development team to turn customer needs into working features
• You’ll design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code in Ruby on Rails.
• You’ll contribute to architectural discussions amongst the team, including helping to decide if and when we should adopt new technologies and methodologies.
• You’ll perform code reviews to ensure that we maintain a high-quality codebase.

Your day-to-day tasks will include

• You’ll develop new full-stack features, working closely with the Product Manager and other members of the development team to turn customer needs into working features

The key things that we will be looking for in applicants

• You have 3-6 years of experience developing scalable and robust web applications using Ruby on Rails
• You have strong experience with collaborative code development in small agile teams and managing releases (Git, Continuous Integration, Capistrano)
• You have an analytical mind with a passion for solving problems, great attention to detail and are constantly curious.
• Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to leverage Generative AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for higher productivity, including:
• Skill in crafting precise prompts to optimize AI output for code generation, test creation, and debugging.
• Using AI to automate repetitive tasks, speed up development cycles, and enhance overall efficiency

What you’ll get:

• Our salaries are calculated using a SaaS benchmarking tool called (Figures) where we pay above market average, and you'll also receive a performance based bonus on top. For this role, the current benchmark range is approximately ₹11 LPA – ₹17 LPA.
