The ideal candidate has a good foundation in Python, Node.js, React.js, SQL, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB, with an interest in developing scalable and reliable web applications.
You will work closely with senior developers, project managers, and other technical teams to design, develop, test, troubleshoot, and maintain applications across both the frontend and backend. This is a hands-on learning role: you will be mentored, code-reviewed, and progressively given ownership of features end to end.
Develop and maintain full-stack web applications using Python, Node.js, and React.js.
Build and integrate REST APIs and backend services.
Develop backend functionality using Python and/or Node.js.
Design, write, and optimize SQL queries.
Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
Perform database CRUD operations, data validation, and basic database optimization.
Integrate frontend applications with backend APIs and databases.
Troubleshoot application issues and participate in debugging and root-cause analysis.
Write clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
Perform unit testing and participate in code reviews.
Work with Git-based source control and follow development standards.
Collaborate with senior developers to understand requirements and implement technical solutions.
Participate in deployment, application support, and production issue resolution.
Prepare technical documentation for developed features and processes.
Use AI coding assistants (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor) responsibly - reviewing, testing, and understanding generated code before submitting it.
Continuously learn and adopt new technologies, tools, and development practices.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or an equivalent practical background.
0-2 years of work experience building web applications.
Working knowledge of Python and/or Node.js for backend development.
Understanding of relational databases and the ability to write and read SQL queries; exposure to PostgreSQL.
Basic familiarity with NoSQL concepts and MongoDB.
Understanding of REST API design, HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON.
Familiarity with Git and standard branching / pull request workflows.
Awareness of basic web security practices (input validation, authentication basics, avoiding common OWASP issues).
Ability to debug systematically and communicate findings clearly.
Strong willingness to learn, take feedback, and work collaboratively in a team.
TypeScript in either frontend or backend code.
Exposure to a Python web framework (FastAPI, Django, or Flask) or Node.js framework (Express, NestJS).
Familiarity with an ORM or query layer such as SQLAlchemy, Prisma, Drizzle, or Mongoose.
Experience writing automated tests (PyTest, Jest, Vitest, or Playwright).
Basic exposure to Docker and containerised local development.
Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions.
Interest in AI/LLM-enabled features - calling model APIs, working with structured outputs, or basic retrieval (RAG) concepts.
Understanding of responsive design and web accessibility fundamentals (WCAG).
Exposure to logging, monitoring, or application performance tools.
Open-source contributions, a public portfolio, or personal projects.
Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical colleagues.
Ownership mindset - follows a task through to deployment and support.
Comfortable asking questions early rather than staying blocked
Attention to detail in code quality, testing, and documentation.
