Job summary

Talent Spot Group in the Philippines is seeking a Software Engineer (Dev) to join our Manila office. You will develop and deliver software solutions to meet functional requirements within agreed timeframes, and participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies.

You will work with Java, Spring, RESTful APIs, SQL Server and front-end tech such as Angular/JSPs, while collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to code reviews, tests, and documentation in Confluence.

Qualifications

• Evidence of hands-on development with Java, Spring/JEE frameworks.
• Experience building RESTful and WebSocket-based APIs.
• Strong SQL Server knowledge including T-SQL and stored procedures.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies and Scrum practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver software solutions to functional requirements and timeframes

• Participate in the Agile Scrum process including refinement and estimation of user stories
• Break down user stories into subtasks and ensure well-commented code
• Develop unit tests using JUnit or TestNG

• Manage branching with Git and participate in code reviews
• Collaborate on CI tooling (Maven/Ant, Jenkins, FindBugs/SpotBugs)
• Contribute to documentation work in Confluence

Software Engineer - 2 openings (Junior/ Senior)

Job Description

We are looking for Software Engineer (Dev) role in our Philippines office. Reporting to Manager Software Engineer (Dev).

Role and Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver software solutions to functional requirements and timeframes
• Delivery of assigned stories on schedule and accordance with agreed scope and quality
• Participation in the Agile Scrum process including:
• Refinement and point estimation of user stories
• Breakdown of user stories into subtasks
• Development of appropriately commented code
• Development of Junit or TestNG unit tests
• Familiarity with front end technologies including Angular, Material Design, JSPs, Swing would be desirable
• Management of multiple levels of branching, ideally with Git experience
• Constructive participation in code review and functional test case review
• Familiarrity with CI tools including Maven/Ant, Jenkins, FindBugs/SpotBugs
• Collaborative documentation, including diagram creation, ideally using Confluence

In depth knowledge and experience of the following technologies:

• Programming Languages: Strong experience in Java using Spring (Spring Data, Spring MVC) or JEE (JPA, EJB, JAX-RS), ideally both. Experience in JMockit or similar mocking framework for unit testing
• APIs: RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, Web Socket Subscriptions with JSON payloads. Soap XML based APIs ability to read, understand and troubleshoot
• SQL Server: SQL Server 2008 and above in-depth exposure to T-SQL, stored procedures, SQL functions.
• Agile: Experience with Agile methodology and experience as a Scrum Master would be desirable

The following technologies would be advantageous:

• Java Swing: Desktop GUI development
• SQL Server: Query optimization / tuning and troubleshooting performance issues. SQL Server Reporting Services 2012 and above, report design and stored procedures, queries, dynamic layout
• Message Bus: Experience using RabbitMQ and Redis is desirable
• Docker: Experience with using Docker will be desirableHTML5 and CSS3 and web-app experience is advantageous
• Experience with SQL Server OLAP cubes would be advantageous
• Ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and customers of cross-functional teams
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
• Highly self motivated
• Ability to lead a small team of people
• Ability to prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Ability to conduct research into software related issues
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
