Job summary

Mind Friend is seeking a creative External Video Editor to support our growing library of short-form content. We film weekly with accredited psychologists, creating educational content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and other social platforms, with a large backlog to process at scale at speed.

You will edit using professional software, apply captions, motion graphics, color grading and AI-assisted visuals, and deliver high-quality edits with independent ownership and fast turnaround.

Qualifications

• Experience with captions, motion graphics, transitions, sound effects, colour grading and VFX.
• Comfortable using AI-generated visuals and tools to enhance content.

• Own professional hardware capable of handling raw footage and high-quality exports.

Responsibilities

• Edit weekly footage into engaging short-form content for social platforms.

We are looking for a creative External Video Editor to support our growing library of short-form content.

We film weekly with accredited and verified psychologists, creating educational and engaging content for Instagram Reels, TikTok and other social platforms. We have a large backlog of footage and are looking for an editor who can help us turn this into high-quality, creative, engaging short-form content at scale at a fast rate.

What we're looking for:

• Proven experience editing short-form content for social media.
• Strong creative instincts and an understanding of what keeps viewers watching.
• Professional editing software such as DaVinci Resolve, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro.
• Experience with captions, motion graphics, transitions, sound effects, colour grading and visual effects.
• Comfortable using AI-generated visuals, video and creative tools to make content more dynamic.
• Able to work independently, take creative ownership and make editing decisions.
• Professional hardware capable of handling raw footage, colour grading and high-quality exports.

You should be comfortable using:

• Two-camera angles, punch-ins and zooms to avoid static talking-head content.
• Strong hooks within the first 1–3 seconds.
• Fast cuts, pacing changes and pattern interrupts.
• Kinetic typography, animated text and motion graphics.
• AI-generated visuals and creative B-roll.
• Relevant B-roll, images and overlays.
• Sound effects and music beds.
• Split screens and creative layouts.
• Animated captions and subtitles.
• Colour grading and LUTs.
• Creative transitions and visual effects.
• Strong CTAs and loop-friendly endings.
• Removing dead air, unnecessary pauses and filler words.
• Creating thumbnail-worthy moments.

Export requirements:

• 1080 x 1920 (9:16 vertical)
• Minimum bitrate: 24,000 KB/s
• H.264 or equivalent industry-standard codec
• 24, 25 or 30fps, matching the original footage where possible
• Optimised for Instagram Reels, TikTok and other short-form platforms
