Job summary

Summit Media is seeking a Staff Writer for Smart Parenting to create and manage multimedia content across articles, art captions, photos, and videos. You will maintain a consistent website refresh rate and collaborate with other Summit brands.

You will also conduct interviews, research, and coordinate with contributors, while handling admin tasks as needed. Strong writing speed and newsroom teamwork are essential for this role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/College Degree in Advertising/Media, Journalism, Humanities/Liberal Arts, Mass Communications, or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of working experience in the related field.
• Preferably 1–4 years of experience as Journalist/Editor or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Participates and contributes ideas during brainstorming activities.
• Decides on themes or subjects for written work and conducts research and data gathering.
• Assists with photo and video shoots.
• Conducts interviews and writes articles.
• Researches to verify facts and analyzes sources for accuracy.
• Composes and edits articles for the website.
• Prepares and refers articles to the Assistant Managing Editor for review and approval.
• Edits for consistent style and brand tone with proper citations.
• Represent the media brand during events, interviews, and official functions.
• Performs other duties incidental to the work described herein.
• Writes clear, effective copy that fits the brand voice.
• Edits submissions from contributors to ensure clean publication.
• Interviewing skills—online or onsite.
• Social media savvy.
• Pitch story ideas and assist management with daily or calendarized story agenda.
• Team player: able to work with a diverse team.
