Overview
The Shopkeeper is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the store, ensuring a high level of customer service, managing inventory, and maintaining a safe and organized store environment. They play a key role in driving sales and ensuring the store meets its financial and operational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Customer Service
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with product inquiries.
- Provide recommendations and answer questions regarding products or services.
- Handle customer complaints or concerns in a professional manner.
- Sales and Promotion
- Actively promote and sell products in the store.
- Achieve sales targets and goals set by the store manager or owner.
- Participate in store promotions and advertising campaigns.
- Inventory Management
- Oversee stock levels and reorder products when necessary.
- Ensure that shelves are fully stocked and items are properly displayed.
- Conduct regular stock checks and assist with stocktaking.
- Store Presentation
- Ensure the store is clean, organized, and visually appealing.
- Arrange products in an attractive and easy-to-shop manner.
- Maintain proper signage and pricing throughout the store.
- Operate the cash register, process payments, and issue receipts.
- Ensure the accurate handling of cash, credit/debit card transactions, and any other payment methods.
- Balance the cash register at the end of each shift.
- Security and Loss Prevention
- Monitor the store for potential theft or damage.
- Report any suspicious activity to management.
- Ensure that the store adheres to safety and security protocols.
- Administrative Tasks
- Keep records of sales, inventory, and other necessary documents.
- Prepare daily reports for management.
- Assist with opening and closing the store.
- Staff Supervision (if applicable)
- Supervise and train junior staff members, ensuring they follow store policies and procedures.
- Delegate tasks and manage shifts for other employees.

Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; further education in retail or business is a plus.
- Experience: Prior experience in retail or customer service is preferred.
- Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to handle cash and operate a point-of-sale system; basic understanding of inventory management; organizational skills and attention to detail.
