Responsibilities
- People: Create a positive team experience, provide process guidance and instructions to junior staff, identify and facilitate training needs, conduct training for new hires, guide new hires through EDI EFT reviews and sign-offs during the compliance cycle, assist in return preparation, ensure timely delivery and quality standards, review online filings of tax returns and EDI/EFTs, track errors while reviewing return preparations and filing, drive internal and external debrief calls, coordinate with Tax Specialists, circulate meeting minutes, assist Tax Associates with logging notices and voicemails, provide trainings and assignments without missing turnaround time.
- Client: Deliver tasks within turnaround time, meet expected quality standards, perform quality and self-review before processing to next level, follow work plan consistently, meet tax calendar deadlines, prepare medium to complex sales and use tax returns using compliance software, keep monthly checklists updated, recommend updates to US preparers, and ensure necessary updates are made.
- Value: Assist with data manipulation, e‑filing, and compliance preparations, reconcile sales tax returns to source data files, prepare and maintain process documents (training material, document management process, quality management), maintain a professional attitude, motivate associates, develop communication and presentation skills, collaborate to improve processes, and support Seniors and US Managers with process improvements.
Qualifications
- Masters or bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business (preferred).
- 2‑4 years of experience in US Taxation.
- Basic or intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Outlook, Internet navigation, and research.
- Relevant experience in Sales and Use tax filing and Return Preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, high attention to detail, ability to meet strict deadlines, and good communication skills.
- Computer literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, experience with PDF applications such as Adobe Acrobat and Nitro, and basic knowledge of Microsoft Access.
Additional Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve compliance, e‑filing, and data issues as they arise.
- Maintain quality control methods to identify errors and improve accuracy.
- Perform quality checks and ensure error tracking at all levels.
- Prepare reports as directed by supervisors.
- Willingness to take additional responsibilities and perform other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
Current work hours are 7:00AM to 4:00PM IST or 2:00PM to 11:00PM IST. Shift change is anticipated to align with US work hours and business needs. Candidates must be willing to work in any shift and accommodate overtime during compliance filing. The position is a standard indoor working environment with regular interaction with employees in India and the US via e‑mail and telephone.
