Job summary

Intro is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to modernise our platform by migrating from PHP to Kotlin while staying hands-on in development and delivery, owning critical backend components and shaping how the platform evolves. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams, bring strong Java or Kotlin skills, and apply deep backend engineering experience to build scalable services.

Job description

You’ll join a close-knit engineering function of around 9 engineers, giving you plenty of ownership, visibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on technical decisions and how the platform evolves.

One of the key projects will involve modernising the existing technology platform and migrating from PHP to Kotlin.

You’ll work closely with engineering and product while remaining firmly hands-on with development and delivery.

What We're Looking For

• Strong commercial experience with Java or Kotlin
• Strong backend software engineering experience
• Currently hands-on with coding and comfortable working in a highly technical role
• Experience with cloud technologies, ideally AWS
• Experience building and maintaining modern, scalable backend applications
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working within a smaller engineering team with significant ownership

Particularly Valuable Experience

Experience within FinTech, banking, payments, lending, insurance or wider financial services would be a strong advantage.

We’re also particularly interested in engineers who have worked on:

• Legacy modernisation or technology migration projects
• AWS and cloud-native architectures
• Smaller product engineering teams with end-to-end ownership
• Practical use of AI within software development
