Job summary

Anthesis Group in the Philippines is seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to design, develop, and execute QA processes for proprietary software systems. You will define comprehensive test strategies, combining manual and automated testing, across UI, API, load, and integration tests.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software testing, including manual and automated testing.
• Advanced knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum with cross-functional collaboration.
• Experience in API testing (RESTful, SOAP) and UI/UX testing; proficient with Postman, Selenium, JMeter, Jira.
• Experience creating/maintaining automation frameworks in Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, CircleCI).
• Strong knowledge of Git and issue tracking (Jira/Bugzilla).
• Basic SQL knowledge; scripting in Shell/PowerShell/Python for automation.
• Experience testing complex configurable systems; cross-browser/platform testing.

Responsibilities

• Test Planning and Execution: develop and run test plans, cases, and scripts for functional/UI/API/regression testing.
• Lead manual test case creation for functional, UI/UX, and API testing; ensure thorough coverage.
• Automate tests where possible to improve efficiency and maintainability.
• Defect management: report, track, and troubleshoot defects with developers and product owners.
• Manage testing priorities with Product Owners; oversee Jira for progress and defects.
• Provide mentoring to junior team members and assist with DevOps/helpdesk tasks.

Description

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer (Automation) is responsible for the design, development, and execution of quality assurance processes for proprietary software systems, ensuring the delivery of high quality applications through meticulous testing efforts. This role involves defining, planning, and implementing comprehensive test strategies that incorporate both manual and automated testing methodologies. The Senior QA Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams to conduct rigorous testing processes, including UI, load, integration, and API testing, while managing testing priorities and contributing to the improvement of testing practices and documentation to support the growth of Anthesis' digital services. The focus is on ensuring adherence to best practices and driving continuous improvement in testing methodologies. Additionally, the Senior QA Engineer (Automation) provides guidance to junior team members as needed, leveraging strong technical expertise and a hands-on approach to testing and defect management. Ideal candidates demonstrate strong technical skills in testing, meticulous attention to detail, and a deep understanding of the software development lifecycle. They must be self-organized, self motivated, detail-oriented, and highly responsible for quality, with the ability to work independently under pressure to achieve success in complex projects. Key Responsibilities

• Test Planning and Execution
  o Plan, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts to ensure product quality.
  o Lead the definition, creation, and execution of manual test cases for functional, UI/UX, API, regression, and compatibility testing.
  o Conduct various types of testing, including UI, load, integration, regression, and API endpoint testing, ensuring a thorough evaluation of software.
• Collaboration and Requirement Analysis
  o Work closely with cross-functional teams to analyze requirements, identify test scenarios, and prioritize testing efforts.
  o Actively participate in Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Reviews, and Retrospectives to ensure alignment with team goals.
  o Analyze user stories and use cases for validity and feasibility, providing feedback to enhance testing coverage.
• Testing Automation and Process Improvement
  o Automate tests where possible to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  o Develop and maintain best practices and processes to enhance testing methodologies.
• Defect Management and Troubleshooting
  o Report and track defects using bug tracking tools and assist with debugging and troubleshooting.
  o Collaborate with developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve defects efficiently.
• Ticket Management and Documentation
  o Manage testing priorities by coordinating with Product Owners to prioritize testing tickets based on project requirements.
  o Oversee Jira maintenance, ensuring accurate tracking of testing progress, results, and defects.
  o Provide detailed documentation to support testing efforts and assist in project management.
• Support and Mentoring
  o Offer operational support, including DevOps and helpdesk assistance as needed.
  o Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering knowledge-sharing and skill development.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• With 5+ years of experience in software testing, including both manual and automated testing. Technical Expertise
• Advanced knowledge of software testing principles, methodologies, and best practices.
• Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum development processes with experience in crossfunctional team collaboration.
• Extensive experience in API testing (RESTful, SOAP), functional testing, UI/UX testing, crossbrowser testing, regression testing, and web accessibility testing. Proficiency in testing tools such as XRay, Postman, JMeter, Selenium, and Jira. Experience in creating and managing automation frameworks using languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI for automated test execution.
• Strong knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and experience with branching strategies.
• Expertise in bug tracking systems (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) with the ability to document and communicate issues effectively.
• Basic knowledge of SQL for database querying and backend validation.
