Job Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Property Accountant is responsible for the accounting and internal reporting for the co-investment entities. Primary responsibilities include participating in monthly close process and preparation of monthly/quarterly/annual reports. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will work closely with Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Cash Management to ensure that accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), and assist in the development/implementation of internal policies, procedures, and controls.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform day-to-day accounting of real estate assets and the funds that invest in these assets
- Timely prepare and deliver monthly, quarterly and annual reports and associated consolidated financial statements, supporting schedules and analyses
- Prepare bank reconciliations for multiple checking and investment accounts
- Record and reconcile financial information; Evaluate all significant accounting transactions
- Calculate asset management fees, property management fees, and leasing commission
- Assist in the management of cash flow and cash requirements for co-investments and subsidiary entities
- Research and implement relevant accounting technical standards
- Assist in the provision of information supporting the annual tax return and the annual audit
- Assist in creating training manuals to be used by the accounting team and future new hires
- Collaborate with Information Technology, Cash Management, Accounts Payable, and Operations Teams to automate and improve process efficiencies
- Assist with the roll out of new accounting software initiatives
- Support Controller/Accounting Manager to establish and maintain accounting policies and procedures
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time and ad hoc accounting projects

- Effective at prioritizing multiple projects with shifting deadlines
- Ability to operate in a fluid, fast paced, start-up environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS in Finance/Accounting/related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum of three years of accounting experience
- Proficient in the latest versions of Microsoft Excel familiar with Pivot table, conditional formatting, and formulas such as Vlookup/Hlookup, IF, SUMIF
- CPA, real estate, institutional fund accounting and Yardi experience a plus
