Job summary

ICON plc in Mexico is seeking a Senior Medical Coding Specialist to ensure accurate coding of clinical trial data. You will lead the coding process and mentor junior staff in a fast-paced, global environment.

You will manage MedDRA and WHODrug coding, collaborate with data management and safety teams, and help implement coding standards and SOPs to maintain data quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in life sciences, healthcare, or related field.
• Certification in medical coding or clinical data management is a plus.
• Extensive experience in medical coding with MedDRA and WHODrug Dictionary knowledge.
• Strong understanding of clinical trial processes, regulatory requirements, and coding/guidance.
• Attention to detail and strong analytical skills for accurate terminology interpretation.
• Proven leadership and mentoring abilities to guide coding teams.
• Proficiency in coding software and CDMS; clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the medical coding process for clinical trial data, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
• Manage coding of medical terms using MedDRA and WHODrug Dictionary.
• Collaborate with data management, safety, and operations teams to resolve coding discrepancies.
• Provide guidance and training to junior coding specialists.
• Develop and implement coding guidelines, QA processes, and SOPs.
• Ensure timely completion of coding tasks to meet timelines.
• Stay current with coding standards, regulations, and therapeutic area knowledge.
