Job summary

Metec Consulting Engineers is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer (Data Centre) to join its international team delivering building services projects across Europe. The role offers a hybrid work setup and strong opportunities to lead mechanical systems design from concept through project delivery.

Ideal candidates will have 8+ years in Building Services, familiarity with European projects, and proficiency in major design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, ACC, and CFD.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in Building Services.
• Experience with European projects is highly preferred.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, Revit, Navisworks, ACC, HAP, Pipe-Flo, IES, CFD or similar software.
• Previous Data Centre project experience is an advantage.
• Strong coordination and communication in a multidisciplinary engineering environment.

Responsibilities

• Designs and specifies mechanical HVAC, heating, and chilled water systems.
• Adheres to engineering concepts and solutions.
• Assists with mechanical/electrical design reviews.
• Designs and specifies installations, equipment, facilities, components, and systems for building services.
• Reviews all mechanical options and decisions for final selection.
• Participates in team meetings with front office engineers to discuss requirements and deliverables.
• Assists in developing briefs, work plans, and CAD resources for each project phase.
• Coordinates with local teams to provide technical advice and resolve issues.
• Provides detailed mechanical support to the local office.
• Coordinates design discipline with other disciplines and prepares drawings.
• Validates and checks engineering documents/drawings/calculations before local release.
• Uses project software for calculations and resource management.
• Ensures document control and quality standards are met.

What we're looking for:

• 8+ years of experience in Building Services
• Experience working on European projects (highly preferred)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D, Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), HAP, Pipe-Flo, IES, CFD, or similar engineering software (preferred)
• Previous Data Centre project experience (an advantage)
• Strong coordination and communication skills in a multidisciplinary engineering environment

Key Responsibilities

• Designs and specifies Mech payouts for AC and Vent, Heating, and Chilled Water.
• Follows appropriate Mech engineering concepts and solutions
• Assists with Mech/Elec technical design reviews
• Designs and specifies Mech installations, equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for all building engineering services purposes.
• Review and record all Mech engineering options and decisions for final options.
• Attend team meetings and conference calls with front office engineers to discuss/review project technical requirements and deliverables.
• Assists in developing a brief and work plan and Engineering/CAD resources for each phase of the project
• Confers with local team personnel to provide technical advice and to resolve problems.
• Provides detailed mechanical support to the local office.
• Responsible for coordinating design discipline with other disciplines and preparing coordinated drawings.
• Responsible for validation and checking of all engineering documents/drawings/calculations before leaving the local office.
• Uses computer-assisted project software for both project-related calculations and project resource management.
• Ensured document control methods are being adhered to and quality control standards are being achieved.
