Job summary

TP ICAP Group in the Philippines is seeking a Senior Linux System Administrator/Engineer to own Linux estate across physical, virtual, and cloud servers. You will manage Redhat and SUSE MLM environments, drive reliability, and collaborate with teams globally.

The role requires mid shift (2pm PHT) and on-site work in Taguig. The ideal candidate will have strong Bash/Ansible scripting, virtualization experience, AWS server workloads, and ITIL-based incident management.

Qualifications

• Expert understanding of Linux operating systems, especially Redhat and SUSE MLM.
• Experience supporting Unix/Linux server infrastructure in a financial services environment.
• Strong scripting with Bash and/or Ansible.
• Knowledge of virtualization and AWS server workloads.
• ITIL standards and incident-management practices.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day administration of Unix/Linux servers and incident response.
• Ensure production systems reliability and performance.
• Follow ITIL requirements for requests and tasks.
• Collaborate with project teams to transition new servers, functionality and tools into production.
• Maintain full system documentation, including disaster recovery plans.

Role Overview

The ideal candidate will be a Senior Linux System Administrator/Engineer with strong Linux knowledge and experience on physical, virtual and cloud-based servers. The candidate will be part of the Global Linux Team supporting and managing the majority Redhat Linux estate using available tools and utilities. An ideal candidate would have experience working within a financial institution or similar environment. A successful candidate will be required to work the mid shift (2pm PHT start time).

Role Responsibilities

• Responsible for providing technical support for the Unix Server Infrastructure (both OS and Hardware), including day to day administration of Servers, incident response and remediation, as well as implementation of new technologies.
• It is extremely important to the company that production server and storage systems offer the highest reliability and performance possible.
• To carry out Requests and Tasks as per ITIL standard requirements.
• To provide solutions and root cause analysis of system performance and failure related issues.
• To work on projects and provide close liaison with project teams to ensure the smooth transition of new servers, functionality, software tools and initiatives into the Production environment.
• To work closely with management, team members, and all colleagues in IT.
• To review & recommend options to improve the effectiveness of the Linux infrastructure and Linux estate.
• To establish / maintain best practices, processes and procedures to underpin the operations of the business.
• Creation / maintenance of full system documentation, including DR documentation.
• Innovation – continually looking at ways to improve infrastructure, for a faster and more efficient environment.
• Maintains the operational health of the systems infrastructure and supports Applications and Users which are dependent upon the company’s infrastructure.
• Drive standards and document reference architecture based on requirements from business, application development and operations to help achieve a state‑of‑the‑art environment that meets current and future business objectives.
• Supports TP ICAP’s core file transfer system (JScape) for both incidents and requests.

Experience / Competences Essential

• The Senior Linux/Unix Engineer shall have expert understanding of Linux based operating systems, especially Redhat and SUSE MLM.
• Knowledge of Linux server and storage architecture within a financial services environment is a must.
• Must have extensive experience of supporting Unix/Linux server infrastructure, along with a strong understanding IT operations of IT core infrastructure, theories, principles, and practices.
• Strong Knowledge of Virtualization concepts.
• Strong knowledge and experience of managing AWS server workloads.
• Strong knowledge of Bash shell scripting and/or Ansible.
• Security focused to avoid vulnerabilities and harden servers’ OS.
• TCP/IP networking concepts.
• Proven experience of mentoring and guiding colleagues with both technical, and non-technical processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
