Job summary

Gamigo Philippines Incorporated is seeking a Senior Java Engineer to own the core commerce and account management platform powering our US game portfolio. You will migrate a legacy system to modern, secure infrastructure, handling transactions and player identities across platforms.

As the primary engineering lead in your time zone, you will drive platform modernization, database migration (MSSQL to PostgreSQL), SSO integration, and API improvements with Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo,

Qualifications

• Strong Java development experience with backend and legacy system modernization.
• Experience with Spring Web Flow and Apache Struts or similar frameworks.
• Proficiency in MSSQL and PostgreSQL migrations or database migrations in general.
• Experience with FreeMarker template engines and template-driven UI.
• Experience deploying and managing applications on Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of OAuth2/OIDC/SAML for SSO integrations and secure auth.

Responsibilities

• Lead platform modernization to improve security and performance.
• Architect and execute database migrations (GCP, MSSQL to PostgreSQL).
• Develop and integrate SSO with third-party providers.
• Maintain and improve API integrations with gaming platforms (Steam, PS, Xbox, Nintendo).
• Maintain backend logic and frontend templates using FreeMarker and Spring Web Flow.
• Collaborate asynchronously with US leadership via Jira and GitLab.

We are looking for a Senior Java Engineer to take ownership of the core commerce and account management platform that powers our US game portfolio. This is a critical, high-impact role: you will be maintaining the backbone application that processes transactions and manages player identities across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, and Steam.

You will be the primary engineering lead in your time zone, working autonomously to stabilize, secure, and modernize a complex legacy platform. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys high-level problem solving—specifically, taking a robust, established application running onJavaand migrating it to modern infrastructure and security standards.

About the Role

• Platform Modernization:Lead the effort to update core libraries and frameworks to improve security and performance.
• Database & Cloud Migration:Architect and execute the migration of services from Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and assist in the database migration fromMSSQL to PostgreSQL.
• Feature Engineering:Implement new critical features, including Single Sign-On (SSO) integrations with third-party providers.
• Platform Integration:Maintain and improve API integrations with major gaming platforms (Steam, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo).
• Full-Stack Maintenance:Maintain the backend logic as well as the frontend implementation usingFreeMarker (.ftl)templates andSpring Web Flow.
• Autonomy & Communication:Work independently as the technical anchor in your region, collaborating remotely with US-based leadership via Jira and GitLab.

• Expert Java Proficiency:Deep experience withJavadevelopment and maintenance.
• Framework Experience:Hands-on experience withSpring(specificallySpring Web Flow) andApache Struts.
• Database Skills:Strong experience withMSSQL; familiarity withPostgreSQLor database migration projects is highly preferred.
• Server-Side Templating:Experience withFreeMarker (.ftl)or similar template engines.
• Containerization & Orchestration:Strong experience deploying and managing applications onKubernetes(K8s).
• Build & Messaging:Proficiency withMavenfor build automation andAMQ(ActiveMQ) for messaging.
• Experience with OAuth2, OIDC, or SAML for implementing SSO.
• Experience with payment gateway integrations or e-commerce platforms.
• Experience migrating legacy monoliths to microservices or modern cloud infrastructures.
