Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Senior Java Developer to design, build, and optimize backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices. You will implement REST APIs, work with MySQL data models, and collaborate across cross-functional teams to deliver scalable software.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on Java and object-oriented development.
• Strong REST API design and API development practices.
• Experience with microservices and distributed systems.
• Good knowledge of MySQL, SQL, data modeling, and query optimization.
• Understanding of design principles, patterns, and clean code.
• Experience with unit and integration testing and modern frameworks.
• Familiarity with security fundamentals in API development.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, CI/CD, and modern delivery practices.
• Experience troubleshooting production apps using logs and metrics.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Java.
• Develop and enhance REST APIs for mobile apps and integrations.
• Work with MySQL: data modeling, queries, optimization, troubleshooting.
• Contribute to scalable backend and microservices architecture.
• Implement clean, secure, well-tested code following best practices.
• Investigate defects, performance issues, and production problems.
• Participate in code reviews, tech discussions, estimation, solution design.
• Collaborate with mobile developers, product stakeholders, QA, and backend engineers.
• Contribute to automated testing, observability, logging, and reliability.
