Job summary

EPAM Systems is seeking a Java Backend Developer to design and evolve scalable backend services powering mobile and web experiences. You will collaborate in an agile team to deliver secure APIs and reliable microservices, emphasizing performance, reliability, and clean code.

The role requires 2+ years of production Java experience, Spring Boot, and strong REST API knowledge, with opportunities for growth in cloud and container platforms within a collaborative, globally distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with Java in production backend development.
• Experience with Spring Boot for building services and APIs.
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute in an Agile/Scrum setup.
• Solid project ownership skills for delivering backend features from design to release.
• Strong REST API design knowledge and microservices fundamentals.
• Relational database experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server.
• Persistence framework knowledge with JPA/Hibernate or similar ORM tools.
• Version control proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows.
• Testing mindset with unit and integration testing frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills and practical problem-solving abilities.
• Clear communication skills for technical discussions and code reviews.
• English proficiency: B2 Upper-Intermediate.
