Job summary

Arup is seeking a Senior Highway Design Engineer to lead road alignment design on major urban and rural highway projects. You will develop 3D models using 12d Model, coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, and mentor junior designers to enhance skill growth.

Responsibilities include preparing designs, technical documentation, and ensuring alignment with project timelines and budgets. Expertise in BIM and regulatory standards is essential for delivering high-quality transport solutions.

Qualifications

• Recognised, relevant tertiary qualification required.
• Membership of a professional institution or working towards eligibility is preferred.
• Extensive knowledge of road alignment design and current industry standards (including Transport for Main Roads, Austroads, Australian Standards).
• Experience applying TMR standards to large infrastructure projects across planning, detailed design, and documentation.
• Proficiency with 12d Model and BIM; experience coordinating with other disciplines and BIM/drawing submissions.

Responsibilities

• Lead road alignment design for major highways, local roads and other projects.
• Prepare high-quality 3D models using 12d Model and communicate outcomes.
• Delegate, direct and review work of junior designers; train and develop their skills.
• Pursue design excellence and contribute to continuous improvement within Arup systems.
• Prepare designs, 3D modelling, drafting and technical documentation across transport, energy, water and site development projects.
• Lead the implementation of technical solutions and ensure design delivery aligns with programme and budget.
