Job summary

Haskoning seeks a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Water & Maritime) to lead geotechnical activities for projects in the Philippines, while providing expert input to the APAC region. The role mixes office and site work and requires a strong track record in coastal, water, and flood-resilience projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; Master’s degree is an advantage.

• At least 10 years of geotechnical experience in water, maritime, coastal, land reclamation, and flood resilience within a consultancy.

What you do as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer - Water & Maritime

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer (water and maritime), you will leverage your solid technical background in geotechnical works and apply this to our water and/or maritime projects and will work alongside our directors and technical teams to deliver impactful projects. You will deliver projects through all stages from writing proposals to development of concept and detailed designs, leading to construction management. Your role will be a mix of work, both in the office and on the site, delivering within a team and working with our clients.

In this senior role, you will lead geotechnical activities for projects in the Philippines and support the APAC region with expert input. You will oversee and review geotechnical assessments, including soil investigations, data interpretation, and geotechnical analysis. The position requires strong analytical skills, project management experience, and the ability to provide innovative solutions for geotechnical risk management, while coordinating with both national and international colleagues and embracing digital ways of working.

What you bring

Responsibilities

As Senior Geotechnical Engineer (Water and Maritime), you will lead geotechnical work on projects in the Philippines, actively contribute to the global geotechnical group to get support and to bring further work to the Philippines team, and support the APAC region in their delivery of projects with expert input. You will work on projects ranging from high-profile multidisciplinary initiatives to smaller projects requiring geotechnical input.

• writing proposals and developing concept and detailed designs leading to construction management
• conducting and overseeing site investigations and developing Terms of Reference for soil investigations
• interpreting geotechnical data and performing risk assessments (e.g. settlement, liquefaction, and slope stability analysis, etc)
• leading seismic response analysis in coordination with our international experts and preparation of Engineering Geological and Geohazard Assessment Reports (EGGAR)
• utilizing advanced geotechnical software (e.g. Deltares, Plaxis, etc) for geotechnical analysis
• leading and reviewing geotechnical designs to ensure technical excellence and innovative solutions
• supporting both office-based design and site-based construction management teams and collaborating with experienced national and international colleagues
• liaising with clients, relevant authorities, contractors, and specialist consultants on both administrative and technical subjects
• taking overall responsibility for project deliverables to meet client and company expectations

Requirements

• minimum bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or other relevant field; a Master’s degree is an advantage
• licensed Philippine Civil Engineer
• at least 10 years of experience in geotechnical engineering works, with significant exposure to water, maritime, coastal, land reclamation, and flood resilience projects within a consultancy environment
• demonstrated experience working in international, multicultural, and diverse environments, with a collaborative approach and ability to work across sectoral and regional boundaries
• proven ability in writing proposals, planning, and running multidisciplinary projects, from concept to detailed design and construction management
• capable of undertaking assignments to achieve technically sound, timely, and cost-effective results
• experience in geotechnical data interpretation, risk assessments (settlement, liquefaction, slope stability, etc.), and site investigation supervision (borehole drilling, CPT, geophysical survey, etc.)
• understanding of and competence in digital ways of working
• excellent English language skills (written and verbal)
• strong interpersonal and communication skills
