Job summary

The Japan Research Institute, Limited, Philippine Branch is seeking an experienced software engineer for a role focusing on both front-end and back-end development. The candidate will design, develop, and maintain components, APIs, and services using Java and Vue.js within a structured project environment.

The role requires strong Java experience (3+ years) with Spring, MyBatis, and Maven, plus unit testing with JUnit/Jest.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience with strong front-end skills and at least 3 years in Java development.
• Strong proficiency in Vue.js and related front-end technologies.
• Hands-on Java applications using Spring Framework, MyBatis, and Maven.
• Experience with automated testing and code quality practices (JUnit/Jest).
• Experience with relational databases and SQL.
• Version control with Git; familiarity with SonarQube.
• Experience in Waterfall software development environments.
• Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• Willingness to learn Japanese language as needed.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and support front-end and back-end application components.
• Build and maintain APIs and backend services using Java and frameworks.
• Develop and execute unit tests using JUnit and Jest to ensure reliability.
• Leverage SonarQube to monitor and uphold code quality standards.
• Use Git for source code management with proper branching and deployment practices.
• Promote software development best practices, including automated testing and CI, while following coding standards and documentation guidelines.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation and contribute to knowledge-sharing to enhance team productivity.
• Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and Generative AI concepts to improve efficiency, quality, and automation.
