Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to ensure reliable financial data, balance books, and compliance with BIR. The role partners with multiple departments to improve reporting and financial processes.

Key duties include month-end close, intercompany reconciliations, asset management, tax submissions, and preparing budgets and forecasts. The ideal candidate will have deep statutory and reporting expertise and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CA/CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
• 5–10+ years in finance and accounting.

• Strong Excel and PowerBI skills.

Responsibilities

Context

The Senior Financial Accountant shall ensure that business decisions shall be based on sound financial data, books are balanced, tax obligations are complied with the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and will serve as a business partner to different employees from various departments.

Missions/Main Duties

Finance & Accounting

• Assist in the month end closing process including balance sheet, general ledger, reconciliations and P&L review.
• Prepare monthly accruals, prepayment and inter entities recharges entries with supporting calculations.
• Overheads review before monthly group discussion.
• Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements;
• Manage the monthly intercompany reconciliations and group submissions.
• Fixed asset management and depreciation.
• Validate and reconcile monthly Branch P&L with group and assist with preparation of monthly management performance reports.
• Support the preparation of the quarterly reforecast and annual budget.
• Assisting in the project financial preparation.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly cash flow.
• Assist in preparing monthly client invoice when necessary.
• Follow up outstanding accounts receivables from external and internal clients.
• Ensure Inter-co group tool is prepared monthly for month end (JEX Accordance)
• Prepare and enter monthly group reporting into group reporting Tool (SAP Magnitude)
• Clear blocking controls and fill in detailed schedules in group reporting Tool (SAP Magnitude)
• Prepare monthly flat file for Branch financials to send to group
• Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures;
• Process improvement and automation.
• Any ad-hoc duties and analysis as required

Statutory

• Liaison with external auditors and prepare work papers for year-end audit.

Tax

• Support preparation and lodgment of all tax submissions in the BIR.
• Maintain adequate records to support tax return submissions including referencing of all supporting documentation and orderly electronic and paper filing.
• Record all tax related accounting entries.
• Identify and investigate all applicable changes in laws, regulations and standards and implement changes as required.

General

• Participate in ad-hoc projects as required to support the HOF and business objectives.
• Coordinate with the team for efficient statutory and group deliveries.
• Develop strong relationships within SPI and wider SYSTRA Group, external auditors, and other key internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain a high level of technical knowledge and awareness of regulatory changes.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial, taxation, HR related laws, rules and regulations.
• Secures financial information by completing database backups.
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information;
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information;
• Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options;

Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.

Profile/Skills

• 5-10+ years of progressive experience finance and accounting
• Strong technical statutory, accounting, reporting, and tax skills.
• Experience in Financial planning and reporting, international group reporting and consolidation
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, good interpersonal skills, adaptable
• Analytical, problem solving, reactive to challenges
• Proficient in computer software applications (Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel, PowerBI) / interest in AI improvements
• Experience in Business Systems – Sage50, AP Magnitude, Jex Accordance.

Educational

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
• CA/CPA equivalent qualification (Accounting certification or tertiary degree)
