Job summary

STMicroelectronics is seeking a Senior Engineer - Process Engineering in the Philippines. The role drives key improvement programs to boost process yield, reduce customer complaints, and ensure robust process documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Improve process and mechanical yield; monitor scrappage; define corrective actions.
  • Analyze customer complaints using 8D methodology; perform DOE and process simulations; identify root causes.
  • Create and review manufacturing shopfloor instructions; define process parameters & control plans.
  • Develop new process methods and materials per ST standards; drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives to support cost, productivity and manufacturing excellence.
  • Manage Process Engineering team; ensure timely performance appraisals and work planning.
  • Generate process and quality KPIs reports; lead improvement plans when targets are missed.
  • Ensure safety, health, environment, security, and good housekeeping compliance.

Senior Engineer - Process Engineering

This position is responsible for execution of key improvement programs to improve process, product quality, prevent customer complaints, increase process & mechanical yield, generate systems and procedure, and perform qualification of new process, material and equipment.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
1- PROCESS YIELD IMPROVEMENT

To improve process & mechanical yield, monitor and identify opportunities to reduce scrappage and define appropriate improvement actions

  • Manages daily issues and defines actions that prevent recurrence
  • Provides technical support to Production in the analysis and disposition of non-conforming lots and equipment, whenever necessary
  • Plans and execute MSA requirements of identified process stations and equipment
2- CUSTOMER COMPLAINTS

To ensure zero recurrence of customer complaints

  • Analyzes customer complaints using Eight Discipline (8D) Problem Solving methodology
  • Performs DOE, process simulations, evaluations and investigations in identifying the root cause of issues
  • Defines corrective and preventive action following the discipline of error proofing
3- PROCESS DOCUMENTATION ‑ To promote product quality documentation. simplify & provide robustness in operations, and comply with specific customer or corporate requirements
  • Generates and conducts regular review of manufacturing shopfloor instructions
  • Defines key process parameters and control plan
  • Identifies opportunities to simplify/improve process and prepares enhancements
4- PROCESS METHODS & MATERIALS ‑ To ensure compliance to STMicroelectronics, Inc. process requirements
  • To improve productivity and process methodologies
  • Develops new process methods and materials within STMicroelectronics, Inc. standards
  • Studies new opportunities to continuously improve existing process method and materials
5- PROCESS IMPROVEMENT - To introduce better processes and/or support short lead time to market products to customers; To support business objectives on cost and manufacturing excellence
  • Generates qualification reports of new process, methods, equipment model and metrologies through Process Change Requisition/Process Change Approval, FCCP codification & Process plan changes in IEDB (or equivalent process traceability systems)
  • Provides process engineering support during new product introduction or line stressing, prototyping and other engineering evaluations
  • Participates in improvement teams and contributes recommendations for company-wide enhancements to quality improvements for lean, productivity and process categories.
6- PEOPLE MANAGEMENT ‑ To ensure the holding of Performance Appraisal (PA) discussions with subordinates, timely submission/completion of performance reviews, zero cases of unresolved discipline issues, to develop a highly effective and capable workforce & to attain alignment of subordinates to company objectives
  • Plans and lead the day-to-day activities of Process Engineering team (shopfloor support)
7- PROCESS REPORTS ‑ To provide management with regular updates of STM Process & quality performance; To ensure full system utilization for process capability and product quality improvements
  • Generates appropriate technical engineering reports on process monitoring, KPI's & control data
  • Leads creation of improvement plans when results are below target
8- SAFETY, HEALTH, ENVIRONMENT, SECURITY, AND GOOD HOUSEKEEPING - To ensure applicable rules and regulations are understood and implemented for team and subordinates
  • Disseminates, explains and ensures adherence to rules and regulations on safety, health, environment, good housekeeping, and security in the area of responsibility to ensure that applicable rules and regulations are understood and implemented
EDUCATION:
  • With a bachelor’s degree in either Electronics & Communications, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
EXPERIENCE:
  • With at least seven (7) years technical and supervisory experience handling Process Engineering tasks in a similar environment
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
  • Must demonstrate skills in problem solving tools, MSA, Statistical Process Control, Process Capability. Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Eight Discipline (8D), QC Tools, CA/PA & QMS
  • Must demonstrate skills in quantitative and qualitative analysis, ngineering evaluations, product and process simplification
  • Must be familiar with either of the following Processes (based on hiring need)
  • Pre-Assembly (Mount, Sawing)
  • Assembly Front Of Line (FOL), End-of-Line (EOL)
  • Testing Process
  • Finishing & Packing Process
  • Must have proven skills in effective demonstrate effective supervision

  • Familiarity with the semiconductor industry
