Senior Engineer – Process Engineering
This position is responsible for execution of key improvement programs to improve process, product quality, prevent customer complaints, increase process & mechanical yield, generate systems and procedure, and perform qualification of new process, material and equipment.
Principal Accountabilities
- Process Yield Improvement – improve process & mechanical yield, monitor & identify opportunities to reduce scrappage and define appropriate improvement actions.
- Manage daily issues and define actions that prevent recurrence.
- Provide technical support to Production in the analysis and disposition of non-conforming lots and equipment.
- Plan and execute MSA requirements of identified process stations and equipment.
- Customer Complaints – ensure zero recurrence of customer complaints.
- Analyze customer complaints using Eight Discipline (8D) problem solving methodology.
- Perform DOE, process simulations, evaluations and investigations to identify root causes.
- Define corrective and preventive actions following error‑proofing discipline.
- Process Documentation – promote product quality documentation, simplify & provide robustness in operations, and comply with specific customer or corporate requirements.
- Generate and conduct regular reviews of manufacturing shopfloor instructions.
- Define key process parameters and control plan.
- Identify opportunities to simplify/improve the process and prepare enhancements.
- Process Methods & Materials – ensure compliance to STMicroelectronics, Inc. process requirements.
- Improve productivity and process methodologies.
- Develop new process methods and materials within STMicroelectronics standards.
- Study new opportunities to continuously improve existing process methods and materials.
- Process Improvement – introduce better processes and support short lead time to market products.
- Generate qualification reports of new process, methods, equipment model, and metrologies through Process Change Requisition/Process Change Approval, FCCP codification & process plan changes.
- Provide process engineering support during new product introduction, line stressing, prototyping and other engineering evaluations.
- Participate in improvement teams and contribute recommendations for company‑wide enhancements to quality improvements for lean, productivity and process categories.
- People Management – ensure performance appraisal discussions, timely reviews, zero unresolved discipline issues, develop a highly effective workforce.
- Plan and lead day‑to‑day activities of Process Engineering team (shopfloor support).
- Process Reports – provide regular updates of STM Process & quality performance.
- Generate technical engineering reports on process monitoring, KPI’s & control data.
- Lead creation of improvement plans when results are below target.
- Safety, Health, Environment, Security & Good Housekeeping – ensure rules and regulations are understood and implemented.
- Disseminate, explain and ensure adherence to safety, health, environment, good housekeeping and security rules and regulations.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Electronics & Communications, Electrical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering.
Experience
- At least seven (7) years of technical and supervisory experience handling Process Engineering tasks in a similar environment.
Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in problem‑solving tools, MSA, Statistical Process Control, Process Capability, Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, Eight Discipline (8D), QC Tools, CA/PA & QMS.
- Quantitative and qualitative analysis, engineering evaluations, product and process simplification.
- Familiarity with one or more of the following processes (based on hiring need): Pre‑Assembly (Mount, Sawing), Assembly Front Of Line (FOL), End‑of‑Line (EOL), Testing Process, Finishing & Packing Process.
- Proven effective supervision skills.
