Job summary

Allegro MicroSystems invites a Senior Hardware Engineer to lead complex hardware development from concept through to production. You will drive architectural decisions, design high-performance circuits and PCBs, and ensure rigorous validation and release.

You will mentor junior engineers, document designs clearly, and promote best practices to improve efficiency and product quality. A strong EE background and 5+ years of hardware experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related field.
• Progressive hardware engineering experience, typically 5+ years, delivering complex products from concept to production.
• Proficiency with EDA tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL, Cadence Allegro PCB Designer, and experience with ATE applications.

Responsibilities

• Leads design and development of complex, high-performance circuits and systems, balancing performance, cost, and schedule.
• Designs and develops PCB layouts in line with company guidelines and best practices.
• Maintains electronic component libraries, including schematic symbols and PCB land patterns per IPC and internal standards.
• Mentors junior engineers, conducts design reviews, and helps develop technical skills.
• Creates and updates design documentation, BOMs, schematics, and assembly instructions.
• Generates PCB fabrication (TED) packages and ensures timely delivery.
• Champions process improvements to design tools and methodologies for higher quality and efficiency.
• Submits monthly accomplishment reports with findings and goals.
• Performs order-related duties as assigned.

The Opportunity

The Senior Hardware Engineer is a key technical leader responsible for designing and developing complex hardware systems for Allegro's cutting-edge products. This role requires deep technical expertise and involves taking ownership of significant portions of a project, from architectural definition through to final validation and release. The role acts as a mentor to junior engineers, drives the adoption of best practices, and makes critical technical decisions that directly impact product performance, quality, and time-to-market. They are expected to work with a high degree of autonomy and are recognized as a go-to experts for solving the most challenging design problems.

What You Will Do

• Leads the design and development of complex, high-performance circuits and systems, making critical architectural and component trade-off decisions to meet performance, cost, and schedule requirements.
• Design and develop printed circuit board (PCB) layouts, ensuring full compliance with established company guidelines and industry best practices
• Develops and maintains the electronic component libraries, including the creation of schematic symbols and PCB land patterns, in strict accordance with IPC and internal company standards
• Mentors and provide technical guidance to junior engineers, conduct thorough design reviews, and actively help them develop their technical and problem-solving skills.
• Creates and maintains clear and accurate design documentation, including schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), and assembly instructions.
• Generate, validate, and release comprehensive PCB fabrication (TED) packages, consistently meeting all project deadlines.
• Proactively identifies opportunities and champions initiatives to improve design processes, tools, and methodologies, thereby increasing team efficiency and overall design quality.
• Submit monthly accomplishment report including problems encountered, recommendations, new learning, and goals
• Performs order related duties as assigned.

Who You Are

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• Progressive experience (typically 5+ years) in hardware engineering, with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex products from concept to production.
• Proficiency with EDA tools for schematic capture and PCB layout such as Altium Designer (preferred), Cadence Allegro Design Entry HDL and Cadence Allegro PCB Designer.
• Experience with ATE applications
