Job summary

MicroSourcing International is hiring a Sr. DevOps / Platform Engineer to own and improve AWS production and staging environments, automate provisioning with IaC, and strengthen deployment pipelines.

You will enhance observability, manage databases and queues, and lead incident resolution in a remote, night-shift setup. Ideal candidates have deep AWS, Docker/ECS, CI/CD via GitHub Actions, IaC experience (Terraform/AWS CDK/CloudFormation/Pulumi), and strong Linux/Python skills.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience operating production AWS systems (compute, networking, IAM, logging, databases).
• Experience with Docker and production deployments (ECS/Fargate or similar).
• Proven ability to design/maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred).
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Pulumi or equivalent).
• Strong Linux/shell scripting with Python proficiency for tooling.
• Observability expertise: logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, incident diagnostics.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL/RDS backups, migrations, and safe prod changes.
• Cloud security fundamentals: IAM, secrets, least privilege, environment isolation.

Responsibilities

• Own and improve production AWS infra, including compute, containers, queues, databases, and storage.
• Enhance GitHub Actions and release workflows for predictable deployments and rollbacks.
• Automate provisioning with IaC (Terraform, CDK, CloudFormation or equivalent).
• Identify risks, single points of failure, and weak retry behavior; implement fixes.
• Build/maintain CloudWatch logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, and runbooks.
• Support PostgreSQL/RDS, Redis/ElastiCache, backups, restores, and migrations.
• Strengthen cloud security with IAM roles, secrets, and least privilege controls.
• Automate developer workflows: environment setup, checks, diagnostics, and recurring tasks.
• Troubleshoot production issues across logs, infra, queues, networks, and external services.
• Lead incident resolution: detection, diagnosis, remediation, root cause, prevention.
• Leverage AI engineering tools to inspect infra, generate IaC/scripts, and improve CI/CD.

Your Role

As a Senior DevOps / Platform Engineer, you will:

• Own and improve production and staging AWS infrastructure supporting applications, workers, queues, databases, caching, storage, secrets, logging, and scheduled workloads.
• Strengthen GitHub Actions and container release workflows to make builds, tests, migrations, configuration changes, deployments, and rollbacks predictable and reliable.
• Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or equivalent technologies.
• Identify and resolve infrastructure risks, single points of failure, fragile dependencies, stuck jobs, and weak queue or retry behavior.
• Build and maintain CloudWatch logs, metrics, alerts, dashboards, health checks, and runbooks to improve system observability and incident response.
• Support PostgreSQL/RDS, Redis/ElastiCache, backups, restore procedures, database connections, migrations, and safe production changes.
• Strengthen cloud security through IAM roles and policies, secrets management, secure authentication, least-privilege access, network controls, and environment separation.
• Automate developer and operational workflows, including environment setup, deployment checks, diagnostics, validation, and recurring infrastructure tasks.
• Troubleshoot production issues across application logs, AWS infrastructure, queues, networks, databases, and external services.
• Use AI engineering tools to inspect unfamiliar infrastructure, generate and review scripts and IaC, investigate logs, improve CI/CD workflows, draft runbooks, and automate repetitive operational work.
• Lead incident resolution from initial detection through diagnosis, remediation, root-cause analysis, and preventative improvements.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• Strong hands-on experience operating production systems on AWS, including compute/containers, networking, IAM, logging, databases, queues, and managed services.
• Practical experience with Docker and production container deployments, with ECS/Fargate or comparable container orchestration experience.
• Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, preferably using GitHub Actions.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, AWS CDK, CloudFormation, Pulumi, or equivalent tools.
• Strong Linux, shell scripting, and infrastructure automation skills, with sufficient Python proficiency to build operational tools and collaborate with application engineers.
• Experience with production observability, including logs, metrics, alerts, health checks, dashboards, and incident diagnostics.
• Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and operational requirements such as backups, restores, database connections, migrations, capacity, and safe production changes.
• Strong understanding of cloud security fundamentals, including IAM, secrets management, least privilege, environment isolation, and secure CI/CD credentials.
• Demonstrated proficiency with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GPT/ChatGPT, Codex, Claude Code, Cursor, or comparable platforms.
• Strong reliability mindset with the ability to identify manual processes, hidden dependencies, weak failure handling, and recovery risks.
• Experience with SQS, Redis, distributed/background workers, schedulers, retries, dead-letter queues, and asynchronous systems.
• Experience operating Python/Flask applications and understanding application-level failure modes.
• Experience with AWS RDS, ElastiCache, S3, Secrets Manager, CloudWatch, ECS, ECR, IAM/OIDC, and backup/restore processes.
• Experience handling production incidents and developing runbooks, release checklists, disaster-recovery procedures, and preventative improvements.
• Experience working in healthcare, HIPAA-regulated, security-sensitive, or other high-trust production environments.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Experience building highly available and fault-tolerant AWS architectures.
• Experience implementing blue-green, rolling, canary, or similarly controlled deployment strategies.
• Experience with Terraform modules, reusable IaC patterns, state management, and infrastructure drift prevention.
• Experience with AWS networking, including VPCs, subnets, security groups, load balancers, DNS, VPNs, and private connectivity.
• Experience implementing centralized logging, monitoring, alerting, and operational dashboards.
• Experience with AWS CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Config, or comparable security and monitoring services.
• Experience with container registries, image security, dependency scanning, and automated vulnerability management.
• Experience with disaster recovery planning, backup validation, restore testing, RTO/RPO planning, and business continuity.
• Experience supporting AI/LLM platforms, voice AI systems, API-heavy applications, or other distributed production workloads.
• Experience with healthcare integrations, EHR/FHIR systems, HIPAA controls, or other regulated technology environments.
• Experience improving developer experience through deployment automation, self-service tooling, environment automation, and operational documentation.
