Job summary

Emerson is seeking a Senior Developer to design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Oracle Database. You will craft complex Oracle SQL queries, build REST APIs, and modernize legacy systems while collaborating with Product Owners, QA, and analysts in an Agile setting.

You will contribute to code reviews, CI/CD, and technical documentation, ensuring reliability and performance across applications and data layers.

Qualifications

• Strong Oracle SQL skills with complex queries, joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data-intensive operations.

• Strong understanding of Oracle Database, relational data models, and application-to-database integrations.
• Experience diagnosing issues, debugging production problems, and implementing reliable solutions across layers.
• Experience consuming and producing REST APIs, including OAuth2/JWT and third-party integrations.
• Familiarity with software development lifecycle, source control, testing, deployment, and Agile delivery.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and branching strategies.

If you are a Senior Developer with strong Oracle SQL and Java/Spring Boot expertise, this role offers the chance to design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications. You will work across Oracle Database, backend services, and web applications, with a strong focus on delivering reliable solutions, optimizing existing applications, troubleshooting production issues, and supporting legacy systems. You will collaborate with Product Owners, System Analysts, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders in an Agile environment while contributing to technical decisions, code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of enterprise applications.

In this role, your responsibilities will be:

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, Oracle Database, and modern web technologies.
• Write, analyze, and optimize complex Oracle SQL queries to support application functionality, data processing, reporting, and overall system performance.
• Support and enhance complex legacy applications by analyzing existing code and architecture while identifying opportunities for modernization, maintainability, and performance improvements.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve production issues across application, database, API, and integration layers, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
• Analyze business requirements and technical problems, translating them into scalable, maintainable, and reliable software solutions.
• Develop and maintain Java/Spring Boot REST APIs, including business logic, integrations, and services connected to Oracle Database.
• Develop and maintain web application components using JavaScript and HTML and potentially include front-end frameworks like React as required by the application architecture.
• Support and contribute to integrations with enterprise platforms and services, including authentication/SSO and other third-party or internal systems.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, deployment, and CI/CD practices, following established software development and quality standards.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, including technical specifications, API documentation, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with Product Owners, System Analysts, QA teams, and other technical stakeholders to deliver solutions and resolve complex technical issues.
• Identify technical risks and dependencies, take ownership of issues, and proactively contribute to application reliability and maintainability.

Who You Are:

You are proactive and can understand complex applications, investigate problems, and identify practical solutions. You are able to navigate existing and legacy systems, understand their business and technical context, and make thoughtful decisions when enhancing or troubleshooting them. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, can explain technical decisions, and are comfortable asking questions or challenging requirements when necessary. You are accountable for the quality and reliability of your solutions, proactively identify risks and dependencies, and follow issues through to resolution.

For this role, you will need:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of software development experience with hands-on delivery across Java and Oracle Database.
• Strong Oracle SQL skills with experience writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries, including joins, subqueries, aggregations, and data-intensive operations.

• Experience consuming and producing REST APIs, with familiarity with API authentication patterns (OAuth2, JWT) and integration with third-party platforms.
• Familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including source control, code reviews, testing, deployment, and Agile (sprint-based) delivery.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and branching strategies.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

• Experience working with legacy applications, including modernization, technical debt reduction, and application maintenance is a plus.
• Experience with React, NextJS, and modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with Oracle APEX application development and maintenance.
• Experience with PL/SQL, including packages, procedures, functions, and complex queries for data management and reporting use cases.
• Experience with SSO/authentication technologies, such as Auth0 or similar identity platforms.
• Experience with MuleSoft or similar enterprise integration platforms.
• Experience with Salesforce development and enterprise integrations, including Salesforce APIs, Lightning Web Components (LWC), and integration between Salesforce and backend services.
• Experience in learning management, e-learning, or enterprise training platforms.
• Familiarity with microservices architecture and API gateway patterns.
• Experience working in an international Agile delivery team.
