CHAMP Cargosystems Philippines, Inc. seeks an experienced Microsoft SQL Server DBA to manage on-premises and AWS-based databases, ensuring security, availability, and performance.
You will install, configure, and maintain SQL Server across versions, implement HA/DR, monitor with CloudWatch and SSMS, and automate tasks with PowerShell, T-SQL, Terraform, and AWS CLI. Collaboration with developers and operations is essential.

Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server 2019, 2022 and 2025 on Windows and Linux, both on-premises and on AWS (RDS and EC2-hosted instances).
Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize SQL Server performance, including query tuning, indexing strategy, and execution plan analysis.
Develop and implement backup and recovery strategies, leveraging native SQL Server backup tools and AWS Backup, to ensure data integrity and availability.
Implementand enforcedatabasesecuritycontrols,includingleast-privilegeaccess, user andprivileged-accountmanagement,encryptionatrestand in transit (includingTDE and AlwaysEncrypted),auditing,vulnerabilityremediation,securitypatching, and complianceevidence.
Design and implement high availability (HA) and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and AWS Multi-AZ/cross-region replication.
Plan and execute database patching and upgrades, on-premises and on AWS, to maintain currency and supportability.
Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime.
Monitor database storage and performance metrics, including AWS CloudWatch metrics, to plan for future capacity needs.
Develop and maintain scripts for database management and automation tasks using PowerShell, T-SQL, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and the AWS CLI.
Maintain detailed and up-to-date documentation of database configurations, processes, and procedures.
Collaborate closely with application developers, system administrators, and customers to support application development and deployment.
Support migration of on-premises databases to AWS (RDS for SQL Server, EC2-hosted SQL Server) and manage cloud-native database services.
Participate in an on-call rotation to support critical systems and incident response.
In-depth knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server architecture and components.
Proficiency in T-SQL and PowerShell scripting.
Hands-on experience with Oracle Database and PostgreSQL environments is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of database security principles, including least privilege, role-based access control, encryption, auditing, secure configuration, vulnerability management, and regulatory compliance.
Experience with SQL Server Always On Availability Groups, Failover Cluster Instances, Log Shipping, and Replication.
Familiarity with database monitoring tools such as SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SQL Server Profiler, and Extended Events.
Strong understanding of operating systems (Windows Server, Linux).
Solid hands-on experience with AWS cloud database services (RDS for SQL Server, EC2-hosted SQL Server, AWS Backup, CloudWatch, IAM) is required.

Ability to work autonomously and flexibly across working hours when operationally required
Experience supporting incident, problem and change-management processes, including root-cause analysis
Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD practices for version-controlled database scripts and infrastructure automation
Good English verbal and written communication skills, including writing technical documentation
Willingness to participate in on-call rotation, including evenings, and weekends as needed.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or equivalent SQL Server certification is an advantage
Relevant AWS certification, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer, is an advantage.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other relevant courses
At least 7 years' experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA, with at least 3 years as a Senior SQL Server DBA, including hands-on experience managing SQL Server databases in On premises and cloud environments
