Thakral One seeks a Senior Data Consultant (GCP Migration) to lead hands-on migration projects, shaping secure and governable data lakehouse environments on Google Cloud. Qualifications

• 10+ years in data engineering/architecture.
• 3+ years in consulting or professional services.
• Delivered a large-scale migration to cloud lakehouse (Snowflake/Databricks/on-prem to cloud).
• Governance across catalogs, lineage, data quality, contracts, and federated models.
• Facilitated client workshops, design reviews, and transformation discussions.

Responsibilities

• Design and evolve lakehouse foundation components across BigQuery, Iceberg, ingestion, dbt transformations, lineage, data quality, and semantic layer.
• Produce Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) and defend designs through governance reviews.
• Assess Snowflake and Databricks workloads and plan rehost/re-platform/re-architect migrations.
• Ensure zero downtime, trustworthy data, complete cutover, and capped dual-run spend.
• Execute within the migration factory by building pipelines and data products.
• Drive migrations and cutover gates to legacy decommissioning.
• Implement federated governance in code (contracts, quality rules, lineage, access controls).
• Support migration wave planning through inventory, dependency mapping, effort estimation, sequencing.
• Troubleshoot production issues during dual-run and hypercare; contribute to runbooks.
• Track and report evidence against delivery, trust, adoption, and economics gates.
