Job summary

MicroSourcing is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to transform diverse data into actionable insights across operations, pricing, and customer experience. You will build dashboards, run analyses, and develop models to support growth and efficiency.

The role requires collaboration with Operations, Finance, Sales, and IT and involves a hybrid work arrangement with a night shift. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in data analytics or data science, strong SQL, Python or R, and experience with Power BI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, CS, Engineering, Economics, OR or related quantitative field.
• At least three years of relevant experience in data analytics, BI, data science, or decision support.
• Strong SQL and proficiency in Python or R for analysis, manipulation, and modeling.
• Experience with data visualization/reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Ability to clean, validate, and reconcile imperfect datasets and communicate findings to nontechnical stakeholders.
• Strong written and spoken English with ability to collaborate during U.S. business hours.

Responsibilities

• Integrate data from routing, dispatch, CRM, billing, accounting, telematics, safety, and service systems.
• Develop dashboards, recurring reports, and KPI dashboards for execs and ops.
• Analyze profitability, density, drive time, service frequency, utilization, churn, and pricing realization.
• Build forecasting, segmentation, optimization, and anomaly-detection models.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Compliance, and IT to translate questions into analytics.
• Create reproducible datasets, SQL queries, data quality checks, docs, and version-controlled code.
• Present findings with actionable recommendations and limitations.

Your Role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will transform operational, commercial, financial, and customer data into actionable insights that help improve route density, pricing, service reliability, customer retention, facility utilization, safety, and profitable growth. You will:

• Integrate and validate data from routing, dispatch, CRM, billing, accounting, telematics, treatment facilities, safety, and customer service systems.
• Develop and maintain dashboards, recurring reports, and key performance indicator (KPI) reporting for executive leadership and operational teams.
• Analyze route profitability, stop density, drive time, service frequency, container utilization, disposal volumes, customer churn, pricing realization, and operational exceptions.
• Build forecasting, customer segmentation, optimization, and anomaly-detection models to support informed business decisions.
• Support acquisition integration by mapping legacy datasets, identifying inconsistencies, and establishing standardized metrics across acquired businesses.
• Collaborate with Operations, Finance, Sales, Customer Service, Compliance, and IT to translate business questions into analytical solutions.
• Create reproducible datasets, SQL queries, data quality checks, documentation, and version-controlled analytical code.
• Present findings and recommendations in clear business language, outlining potential impact, limitations, and actionable next steps.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of customer, employee, pricing, financial, routing, and operational information.

What You Need

Non-negotiables

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Operations Research, or a related quantitative field.
• At least three years of relevant experience in data analytics, business intelligence, data science, or decision support.
• Strong SQL skills and proficiency in Python or R for data analysis, data manipulation, and modeling.
• Practical experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Ability to clean, validate, and reconcile imperfect operational datasets and communicate analytical findings to nontechnical stakeholders.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively during U.S. business hours.

Preferred Skills/expertise

• Experience in transportation, logistics, route optimization, waste management, healthcare services, field services, or multi-site operations.
• Experience in geospatial analysis, forecasting, pricing analytics, customer retention, or private equity portfolio reporting.
• Working knowledge of APIs, cloud data platforms, Git, statistical testing, and data governance.
• Experience developing reliable data pipelines, automated reporting processes, and data quality controls.
• Ability to translate analytical findings into measurable financial and operational improvements.
