Job summary

ANZ is hiring a Senior Cloud & Security Engineer to design, automate, and support cloud-based internet security services. You will protect ANZ while enabling secure connectivity across the organization.

The role spans cloud platforms, infrastructure engineering, networking, automation, DevOps, and security, with focus on SWG, SASE, and related technologies. Expect collaboration with multiple teams and a strong drive for reliability and security.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in Cloud, Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or Security Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and/or GCP.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, VPNs, TLS/SSL.

Responsibilities

• Support and enhance Internet Security services including SWG, Browser Isolation, DNS Security, SSE, and SASE platforms.
• Assist with onboarding cloud and on-prem applications into Secure Internet Services platforms while ensuring security, resiliency, and business requirements.
• Troubleshoot complex networking, cloud, and security-related issues impacting critical enterprise services.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable improvements to strengthen platform reliability and reduce operational risk.
• Contribute to vulnerability remediation, security control implementation, and risk reduction initiatives across the Secure Internet Services environment.
• Develop expertise across Zscaler, Menlo Security, and other strategic internet security technologies.

The mission of ANZ's Secure Internet Services Squad is to deliver secure, resilient, and reliable internet access services that protect the bank while enabling our people and customers to connect safely and confidently in an increasingly digital environment.

As a Senior Cloud & Security Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, engineering, automating, and supporting cloud-based internet security services that protect ANZ while enabling secure connectivity across the organization.

The role combines expertise across cloud platforms, infrastructure engineering, networking, automation, DevOps, and security. You will work on modern cloud-native solutions, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), CI/CD practices, platform integrations, and enterprise internet security services including Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Browser Isolation, DNS Security, and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) technologies.

You will partner with Cloud, Infrastructure, Security, Network, and Engineering teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure platforms while driving automation, operational excellence, and continuous improvement across Secure Internet Services.

You will contribute to engineering excellence by mentoring colleagues, promoting best practices, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability, security, and operational efficiency. Through collaboration and influence, you will help shape technical outcomes and ensure Secure Internet Services remains a trusted, scalable, and secure platform for the organization.

Secure Internet Services and Security Engineering

• Support and enhance Internet Security services including Secure Web Gateway (SWG), Browser Isolation (RBI), DNS Security, Security Service Edge (SSE), and Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platforms.


• Assist with onboarding cloud and on-premises applications into Secure Internet Services platforms while ensuring security, resiliency, and business requirements are met.


• Troubleshoot complex networking, cloud, and security-related issues impacting critical enterprise services.


• Conduct root cause analysis and implement sustainable improvements to strengthen platform reliability and reduce operational risk.


• Contribute to vulnerability remediation, security control implementation, and risk reduction initiatives across the Secure Internet Services environment.


• Develop expertise across Zscaler, Menlo Security, and other strategic internet security technologies.

Collaboration, Leadership & Engineering Excellence

• Partner with Cloud, Security, Infrastructure, Network, Architecture, and Engineering teams to deliver secure and scalable solutions.


• Collaborate with vendors and stakeholders to solve technical challenges and drive strategic outcomes.


• Provide technical leadership and act as a trusted SME within cloud, infrastructure, security, and platform engineering domains.


• Mentor engineers through coaching, knowledge sharing, technical guidance, and best-practice adoption.


• Maintain technical documentation, operational runbooks, architecture artifacts, and support standards.


• Contribute to squad capability uplift, innovation initiatives, and engineering excellence programs

Products and Applications

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following:

• Proven experience in Cloud, Platform, Infrastructure, DevOps, or Security Engineering within enterprise environments.


• Hands‑on experience with AWS and/or GCP, including cloud networking, security, and platform services.


• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, VPNs, TLS/SSL, proxies, and firewalls.


• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation or similar technologies.


• Strong automation and scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or equivalent languages.


• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD, or similar platforms.


• Experience with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.


• Understanding of cloud security concepts including IAM/RBAC, SAML, OAuth, OIDC, and Secrets Management.


• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security issues.


• Experience managing production environments, including incidents, changes, risk management, and service improvements.


• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and collaboration skills.


• Experience with Zscaler, Menlo Security, SWG, SSE, SASE, or similar Internet Security technologies is advantageous.

Desirable

• AWS, GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, Security, or Zscaler certifications.


• Experience onboarding applications to cloud or security platforms.


• Passion for automation, continuous improvement, and engineering excellence.
