Job summary

Advanced Energy, a global leader in precision power conversion, is seeking a Senior Buyer – Direct Commodity in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. This role drives procurement of direct materials to keep manufacturing and testing stations running smoothly.

You will lead RFQ/RFPs, negotiate pricing, convert requisitions to POs, and collaborate with Operations, Finance and Design Engineering to optimize cost, quality and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field.
• Proactive problem solver with strong planning orientation.
• Ability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively and professionally to changing requirements.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing or similar industries.
• 5+ years managing a diverse portfolio of indirect/direct categories as a senior buyer.

Responsibilities

• Proactive new supplier sourcing and development for direct materials used in testing boards and fixtures.
• Lead RFQ / RFP, cost analysis and price negotiation.
• Transform internal requisitions into formal Purchase Orders with price validation.
• Manage delivery confirmation and supplier expediting.
• Support urgent requests outside the normal planning cycle.
• Collaborate with AP, end users, and suppliers to resolve invoice/PO discrepancies.
• Manage returns or RMAs for faulty products.
• Assist new supplier onboarding and maintain supplier data in systems.
• Update lead times of goods in the system.
• Partner with Operations, Planning, Design Engineering and Finance to meet requirements.
• Evaluate supplier performance through KPIs and conduct business reviews.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Buyer – Direct Commodity is responsible for procurement of goods and services that ensure continuity of indirect spend supplies enabling Advanced Energy’s various business groups to operate efficiently, support internal requirements, corporate cost objectives, and enables cost effective solutions for indirect spending in local or global regions. Responsible for oversight on performance metrics related to Quality, Delivery, and Cost.

This position will report to Manager, Purchasing.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proactive new supplier sourcing and development for direct materials such PCB, heatsink, bobbin, magnetic cores, connectors, cable & wire which are used in testing boards or fixture or testing stations.
• Responsible for RFQ / RFP, cost analysis and price negotiation.
• Transform internal requisitions into formal Purchase Order by accuracy check requisition details and pricing validation.
• Delivery confirmation and expedition with suppliers.
• Support and handle urgent / emergency requests that fall outside of the normal planning cycle.
• Work with account payable team, end users and supplier to resolve supplier invoice or PO variances or discrepancies of delivered goods or services.
• Manage returns or RMAs for faulty products.
• Assist new supplier onboard process or maintain accurate supplier information in system.
• Update correct lead-time of goods in system (if applicable).
• Partner with internal stakeholders but not limited to Operations, planning, Commodity Managers, design engineering and Finance to understand their requirements and provide procurement expertise.
• Work with Commodity Management or Sourcing Teams to evaluate supplier performance through defined KPI and conduct regular business reviews to drive continuous improvement.
• Ensure all purchasing activities align with corporate policies and internal audit requirements.
• Support / responsible for global AE manufacturing factories, design and global service centers if necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Adminstration, Finance or related fields.
• Proactive problem solver with strong planning orientation.
• Capability to respond quickly, decisively, assertively and professionally to changing requirements.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient with SAP or Ariba or Oracle.
• Excellent PC skills including Excel, Word, MS Standard Office.
• Proven record of at least 5 years on managing a diverse portfolio of Indirect Categories at senior buyer position.
• Experience in supply chain management in an electronics manufacturing environment.
• Supporting Procure to Pay process including PO issuance and supplier shipment.
• Experience in a very high growth rate electronic business is preferred.
