Job summary

SMEC Philippines seeks a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead the structural design of bridges and related civil works. You will perform detailed calculations for superstructures, substructures, foundations, seismic and wind loading, and prepare design reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree (Bachelor’s), 8+ years in bridge or structural design, licensed status, and proficiency in MIDAS or STAAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering.
• Master’s Degree an advantage.
• Licensed/registered Civil Engineer.
• 8+ years of experience in bridge or structural engineering design.
• Proficiency in structural software (MIDAS, STAAD).
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the structural design of bridges, viaducts, retaining structures, and other civil works.
• Perform detailed calculations for superstructures, substructures, foundations, seismic and wind loading, and load ratings.
• Prepare and review technical design reports, drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Apply design standards (e.g., AASHTO, Eurocode, DPWH).
• Coordinate with geotechnical, roadway, drainage, utilities, and construction teams.
• Review and validate work of junior engineers and CAD staff.
