Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-driven Senior Bookkeeper to lead our bookkeeping function. This role involves reviewing the work of junior and intermediate staff, managing complex reconciliations, ensuring compliance, and providing advisory support to clients. The ideal candidate has a strong command of accounting standards, leadership capabilities, and experience with Australian tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Review & Oversight
  • Review and verify work completed by junior and intermediate bookkeepers

  • Ensure accuracy, compliance, and consistency in financial reporting

Advanced Reconciliations
  • Manage complex reconciliations involving multi-entity, foreign currency, or high-volume accounts

  • Identify and resolve discrepancies efficiently

Reporting & Compliance
  • Prepare financial reports, cash flow statements, and management summaries

  • Finalize and lodge BAS, IAS, superannuation, and payroll tax reports in compliance with Australian standards

Client Advisory
  • Offer financial insights, budgeting guidance, and suggestions for improving accounting processes

  • Act as a trusted advisor for clients’ financial matters

System Setup & Optimization
  • Lead implementation and configuration of accounting systems (e.g., Xero)

  • Improve existing workflows and processes for greater efficiency

Team Leadership
  • Train and mentor junior and intermediate bookkeepers

  • Support the professional development of the finance team

Skills & Qualifications:
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting standards and Australian tax regulations

  • Strong leadership and communication skills

  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems effectively

  • Proficient in Xero and MS Office (especially Excel)
