Job summary

Grant Thornton Ireland is seeking an experienced Audit Engagement Lead to direct engagements from planning to completion, ensuring on-time delivery and adherence to budget. You will oversee audit plans, risk assessments and programs tailored to each client, while supervising and mentoring staff to uphold high-quality work.

The role requires ACA/ACCA/CPA qualifications with 7+ years in external audits and at least 4 years in a managerial capacity, plus strong technical IFRS and GAAP knowledge and

Qualifications

• ACA/ACCA/CPA qualified.
• 7+ years’ experience in external audits with 4 years in a managerial role.
• Strong technical skills (IFRS, Irish and UK GAAP and International Auditing Standards).
• Electronic auditing experience.
• Ability to motivate and manage staff under tight deadlines.
• Portfolio management experience.
• Strong attention to detail and analytical assessment.
• Experience gained in a Big 4 accounting firm would be advantageous but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit engagements from planning to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
• Oversee the preparation of audit plans, risk assessments, and audit programs tailored to each client’s needs.
• Supervise and mentor audit staff, providing guidance and support for high-quality work.
• Build and maintain relationships with clients as main audit contact.
• Ensure engagements comply with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and firm quality control procedures.
• Assist in identifying opportunities for additional services and business development with clients.
