Job Description
Accounting Operations & Reporting
Lead and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes.
Review journal entries, reconciliations, schedules, and reports prepared by the accounting team.
Ensure completeness and accuracy of the general ledger and financial statements.
Audit Leadership
Serve as the main point of contact for external auditors during year-end audits.
Coordinate all audit requirements and deliverables (e.g., vouchers, schedules, supporting documents).
Ensure audit readiness by enforcing documentation standards and process compliance throughout the year.
BIR Compliance & Tax Matters
Lead BIR audits (e.g., handling Letters of Authority, Notice of Discrepancy, etc.) in coordination with the company’s tax consultants.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation and filing of all statutory tax requirements (e.g., VAT, Withholding Tax, Income Tax).
Maintain proper tax documentation and work closely with the retained tax firm to mitigate risks.
Financial Controls & Compliance
Monitor compliance with accounting standards (PH GAAP or IFRS as applicable), tax regulations, and internal policies.
Maintain and improve internal controls to ensure financial integrity.
Provide guidance on financial and tax compliance to the team.
Team Oversight & Coordination
Support the Head of Finance in overseeing the day-to-day performance of finance and accounting staff.
Provide training, guidance, and quality control for junior team members.
Help ensure task accountability and address performance gaps, escalating critical issues when necessary.
Financial Analysis & Support
Assist with budget preparation, cash flow monitoring, and variance analysis.
Provide meaningful financial insights and help prepare reports for management and board meetings.
Process Improvement & Systems Enhancement
Identify gaps or inefficiencies in accounting processes, documentation, or team workflows.
Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen accuracy, compliance, and team productivity.
Support digital transformation efforts (e.g., automation, better use of accounting software like Xero).
Help formalize and enforce SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) across accounting functions.
Documentation & Audit Trail Maintenance
Ensure all financial records and vouchers are well-documented and systematically archived (especially important for audit/BIR).
Establish and enforce documentation protocols for all transactions and reports.
Support for Management Projects
Assist the Head of Finance in special projects such as budgeting, tax planning, transfer pricing, system migrations, or finance restructuring initiatives.
Provide accurate data and support analysis needed by management.
Attend to any ad hoc tasks and special projects assigned from time to time.
