Job summary

OpsArmy is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage end-to-end accounting and month-end close for a portfolio of clients. You will own specific tasks, support client deliverables, respond to inquiries, and maintain accurate financial records, including inventory and cost accounting, within a fully remote setup.

The role may involve acting as Controller for certain engagements, depending on client structure, with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and process improvements in ecommerce or CPG contexts.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is mandatory.
• Experience with inventory and cost accounting.
• Experience with transactional accounting.
• Exposure to ecommerce or CPG accounting is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support or own end-to-end month-end close for an assigned portfolio of clients, including AP, AR, and payroll-related tasks.
• Own specific accounting tasks within the month-end close cycle.
• Prepare and support the delivery of client accounting deliverables.
• Respond to client questions and follow up on outstanding items as needed.
• Maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date records in accounting applications, including Double.
• Identify and escalate open items, roadblocks, and issues to the Controller in advance of deadlines.
• Support internal process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and other accounting team efforts.
• Work closely with the Controller and other team members to ensure client engagements are completed accurately and on schedule.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to support the end-to-end accounting and month-end close processes for an assigned portfolio of clients. This role will take ownership of specific accounting tasks, support client deliverables, respond to client questions, and help maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.

The Senior Accountant may work independently on assigned tasks within a client engagement or, depending on the engagement, act as a Controller and lead Staff Accountant.

Key Responsibilities

• Support or own the end-to-end month-end close for an assigned portfolio of clients, which may include AP, AR, and payroll-related tasks.
• Own specific accounting tasks within the month-end close cycle.
• Prepare and support the delivery of client accounting deliverables.
• Respond to client questions and follow up on outstanding items as needed.
• Request, organize, and follow up on missing documentation from clients.
• Maintain clean, accurate, and up-to-date records in accounting applications, including Double.
• Identify and escalation open items, roadblocks, and issues to the Controller in advance of deadlines.
• Support internal process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and other accounting team efforts.
• Work closely with the Controller and other team members to ensure client engagements are completed accurately and on schedule.

Scope & Ownership

• Own individual accounting tasks within a client engagement.
• May act as the Controller and lead Staff Accountant for an assigned engagement, depending on the client structure.
• Escalate engagement-level issues, open items, and roadblocks to the Controller as needed.

Requirements — Must Have

• Proficiency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
• Experience with inventory and cost accounting.
• Experience with transactional accounting.
• Advanced knowledge of accounting methods relevant to ecommerce or CPG businesses.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, current records.
• Ability to manage deadlines, follow up on outstanding items, and proactively escalation issues.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in CPG (Consumer Packaged Goods) accounting.
• Experience in ecommerce accounting.

Success in This Role

Success in this role means:

• Month-end closes are completed on schedule with minimal corrections required from the Controller.
• Client questions are addressed within agreed response times.
• Open items and roadblocks are identified and escalated before deadlines.
• Double is kept accurate and up to date for owned tasks.
• Documentation requests to clients are clear, organized, and appropriately followed up.
• Client questions and outstanding items are consistently tracked through resolution.
