Job summary

The Asian Institute of Maritime Studies in Pasay City, Metro Manila, seeks an experienced School Nurse to join our healthcare team. You will deliver comprehensive health services to students and staff, support health promotion, manage emergencies, and maintain confidential health records to sustain a safe learning environment.

You hold a BSN with active registration, have at least 3 years in school or community health settings, and are proficient in basic life support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current professional nursing licence and registration with the Philippine Nurses Association or equivalent regulatory body.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community health nursing, maternal and child health, or school health settings.
• Strong knowledge of paediatric and adolescent health principles and practices.
• Proficiency in basic life support and first aid certification.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently within a school setting.
• Sound knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to educational institutions.
• Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and ethical standards in healthcare practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary healthcare services to students and staff, including health assessments, wound care, and management of acute illnesses.
• Conduct health screenings, immunisation programs, and health surveillance activities as required by school policies and regulatory guidelines.
• Develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention programmes targeting the school community.
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students and staff members.
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid and emergency care when necessary.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and external healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive student care.
• Monitor students with chronic health conditions and coordinate appropriate management plans.
• Conduct health education sessions on topics including hygiene, nutrition, mental health awareness, and wellness.

This is a full-time position where you will play a vital role in supporting the health and wellbeing of our student population and staff. As School Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive health services, health promotion, and emergency care within our educational setting. This role is essential to maintaining a safe and healthy school environment and directly contributes to our mission of fostering well-rounded maritime professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide primary healthcare services to students and staff, including health assessments, wound care, and management of acute illnesses
• Conduct health screenings, immunisation programs, and health surveillance activities as required by school policies and regulatory guidelines
• Develop and implement health promotion and disease prevention programmes targeting the school community
• Maintain accurate and confidential health records for all students and staff members
• Respond to medical emergencies and provide first aid and emergency care when necessary
• Collaborate with parents, guardians, teachers, and external healthcare providers to ensure comprehensive student care

What we're looking for

• A valid Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from an accredited institution
• Current professional nursing licence and registration with the Philippine Nurses Association or equivalent regulatory body
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in community health nursing, maternal and child health, or school health settings
• Strong knowledge of paediatric and adolescent health principles and practices
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse populations
• Proficiency in basic life support and first aid certification
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently within a school setting
