Job summary

Skild AI is seeking a proficient Firmware Engineer to develop and optimize firmware for BLDC motor control and real-time embedded systems. You will implement control algorithms, debug communications, and collaborate with hardware teams to ensure performance.

You will work with ROS and DDS, write low-level drivers, and contribute to testing, documentation, and best practices as part of a cross-disciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or Mechatronics.
• Hands-on firmware development for robotics or embedded systems.
• Experience with BLDC motor control, FOC, PWM, current/position control.
• Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and debugging tools.
• Familiarity with ROS and DDS frameworks.
• Experience with RTOS such as FreeRTOS, RT-Linux.

Responsibilities

• Design, debug, and integrate low-level communication protocols (RS-485, CAN, UART, SPI).
• Develop firmware for microcontrollers and embedded Linux.
• Implement real-time systems with RTOS (FreeRTOS, RT Linux, VxWorks).
• Collaborate with hardware to bring up PCBAs and integrate into systems.
• Integrate firmware with frameworks like DDS/ROS.
• Test, validate, and debug firmware in the lab.
• Document firmware design processes and best practices.
