The Risk and Assurance Lead provides senior risk-informed assurance, change leadership, and advisory support across operational, compliance, financial control, and management reporting processes, with a strong focus on driving change initiatives, special projects, and priority work that supports leadership decision-making. The role requires strong commercial and operational acumen, end-to-end ownership, confidence in managing ambiguity, and the ability to remain effective as priorities evolve. Operating with a high degree of autonomy, the role will take ownership from problem definition through to execution, follow-through, and stakeholder communication. It will support management by shaping approaches, coordinating cross-functional inputs, preparing senior-ready outputs, and proactively progressing work across changing business priorities.
Lead the design, enhancement, and execution of complex, high-impact risk, assurance, change, and special project initiatives, including reviews of operational, compliance, financial control, and management reporting processes where required, setting expectations for depth, quality, pace, and practical delivery. With a strong emphasis on financial risk management (an essential skill for the role)
Interpret assurance outcomes to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, and strategic implications, providing clear and forward-looking insights.
Deliver senior-level, decision-grade outputs that clearly articulate issues, evidence, impacts, options, and recommended actions for management consideration.
Act as a trusted risk and change partner to senior business and functional stakeholders, confidently articulating issues, trade-offs, priorities, and mitigation approaches in a clear and proactive manner.
Drive the development, standardization, and continuous improvement of assurance frameworks, methodologies, and quality standards, including change-focused improvements that strengthen efficiency, consistency, and management visibility.
Use advanced analysis, trend assessment, and insight generation to support proactive risk visibility and informed decision-making.
Take end-to-end ownership of assigned change initiatives and special projects, from scoping and planning through to delivery, stakeholder alignment, issue resolution, and completion.
Provide direct support to management on priority work, including preparing materials, coordinating inputs, tracking actions, escalating blockers, and progressing initiatives where priorities or timelines shift.
Coach and develop team members, contribute to succession and resilience planning, and model high standards of professional judgment, collaboration, and accountability.
Bachelor's degree in risk, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline; professional certification is strongly preferred.
Typically, 7–10 years of relevant experience, or equivalent capability gained through senior roles in risk management, assurance, audit, compliance, financial controls, external audit, internal audit, or a regulated professional environment.
Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional assurance, change, or project-based activities with significant business or stakeholder impact.
Strong advisory and change management capability, with the confidence to engage, influence, and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce senior-ready materials and articulate complex matters clearly in management and governance forums.
Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with changing priorities, balancing structure with flexibility, and proactively keeping work moving without close supervision.
Strong ownership mindset, sound judgment, and proactive follow-through, with the ability to support leadership on priority initiatives beyond routine BAU activity.
