Author Health is revolutionizing mental health care delivery and seeks a skilled Medical Billing Specialist to manage the end-to-end billing lifecycle for U.S. payer claims while ensuring HIPAA compliance and accurate reimbursements.

You will verify insurance eligibility, submit clean claims, handle denials, and collaborate with payers in a hybrid setup with onsite days at our Makati office. Excellence in communication and analytical skills are essential to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience with U.S. medical billing or revenue cycle.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 / CPT and the full claims lifecycle.
• Professional billing or coding certification (e.g., CPC, CPB, or CCA) is an advantage.
• Experience with a practice management system / EHR and clearinghouses, HIPAA familiarity.
• Able to work Monday to Friday on U.S. business hours.
• Willing to work in a hybrid setup with onsite days in Makati.

Responsibilities

Position Overview:

The position is responsible for managing the end-to-end medical billing process and ensures accurate, timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with payer and HIPAA requirements and supporting revenue cycle performance.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Manage incoming patient inquiries, resolve billing and statement questions, and securely process point-of-sale payments.
• Conduct outbound patient outreach to explain complex statement details.
• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage limits, and out-of-pocket responsibilities utilizing designated payer portals.
• Monitor payer portals to track real-time claim status, respond to inquiries, and identify or escalation systemic transmission errors.
• Work Accounts Receivable (AR) aging reports to reduce outstanding days and minimize aging buckets past 90 days via persistent follow-up.
• Execute end-to-end denial management, including root-cause analysis, corrective resubmissions, and appeal tracking.
• Post insurance and patient payments from Electronic Remittance Advices (ERAs) and manual Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Reconcile daily payment remittances against internal bank deposits to guarantee absolute ledger accuracy.
• Apply contractual adjustments and authorized write-offs, and issue verified provider or patient refunds per compliance guidelines.
• Prepare and submit clean claims across multiple healthcare payers.
• Ensure coding accuracy by verifying CPT, ICD-10, and modifier application in strict accordance with regulatory guidelines

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in any field; a healthcare-related degree is an advantage.
• 2+ years of experience with U.S. medical billing or revenue cycle, working knowledge of ICD-10 / CPT and the full claims lifecycle
• Professional billing or coding certification (e.g., CPC, CPB, or CCA) and prior early-stage or multi state experience are an advantage.
• Experience with a practice management system / EHR and clearinghouses, familiarity with HIPAA compliance
• Amenable to work Monday to Friday on U.S. business hours
• Willing to work in a hybrid setup, with required onsite days at our Makati office.
