Job summary

Century Pacific Agricultural Ventures Inc. seeks a Research & Development Specialist to lead packaging development for primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging.

You will establish material specifications, create prototypes, and perform performance testing per customer requirements and regulatory standards. Qualifications include a degree in Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Food Technology, with 1–2 years in Food Manufacturing, preferably in R&D or packaging roles.

• Graduate of Packaging Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Food Technology.
• 1-2 years work experience in Food Manufacturing, preferably in R&D or with packaging assignment is an advantage.
• Computer literate with above average communication skills.
• Team player with an analytical mindset and good planning.
• Knowledge and experience on Food Safety, HACCP and GMP.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers, and sales and marketing to understand technical targets for new packaging developments.
• Lead or manage complete packaging development process, including establishing material specifications, prototype development, and performance testing.
• Coordinate preparation of package prototypes to suppliers for testing according to industry standards and customer requirements.
• Review/approve and/or prepare technical reports for all packaging development tests and evaluations.
• Oversee initial production and loading activity of new packaged product to ensure customer requirements are met.

About the role

The Research & Development Specialist is responsible for the development of primary, secondary and tertiary packaging requirements of the company and its customers. This includes design conceptualization, establishing material specifications, and performing materials and package performance testing based on customer requirements and statutory regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with customers, and sales and marketing to understand technical targets for new packaging developments.

• Lead or manage complete packaging development process, including the establishment of material specifications, prototype development, and performance testing.

• Coordinate preparation of package prototypes to suppliers for functional and performance testing according to industry standard test methods and/or customer requirements.

• Review/approve and/or prepare technical reports/summaries for all packaging development tests and evaluations.

• Oversee and monitor initial production and loading activity of new packaged product to ensure customer requirements are complied.

• Provide creative, timely and cost-effective solutions to new and existing packaging problems.

• Review/approve and/or prepare and document all test methods to develop and validate packaging materials.

• Collaborate with purchasing and suppliers on material concepts, and costing for the development of packaging materials such as cartons, labels, flexible plastics, rigid plastics, etc.

• Provide support in a cross functional manner with other departments when presented with quality issues related to packaging.

• Provide technical support to customers on packaging related concerns.

About you
