BASIC FUNCTION
The Research and Development Consultant provides expert guidance and strategic direction in developing new products, enhancing existing ones, and optimizing production processes to support The Laguna Creamery Inc.’s business objectives. The consultant will advise on emerging technologies, market trends, and best practices, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
- Provide technical expertise and direction in the development of new products and process innovations.
- Review and validate product specifications, standards, and documentation for new and existing products.
- Recommend and guide the implementation of product development procedures.
- Advise on product and process improvements, as well as cost optimization opportunities.
- Recommend changes in raw materials, packaging, processes, product specifications, and parameters.
- Provide guidance in designing and reviewing monitoring forms in QA and production.
- Conduct research and provide insights on new technologies, product trends, processes, and packaging innovations.
- Oversee and evaluate trials for new products.
- Apply expertise in production processes and equipment to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Provide recommendations to support continuous improvement in product quality, productivity, and efficiency.
ADMINISTRATION
- Coordinate with internal teams (Marketing, Production, Engineering, QA) and external partners (clients, vendors) on R&D-related matters.
- Review and recommend workflow improvements and process documentation for the R&D function.
- Provide technical training, knowledge transfer, and mentorship to R&D staff as needed.
- Ensure that recommendations align with industry standards, regulations, and company policies.
- Support management in decision-making on product development strategies.
QUALIFICATION GUIDES
- College Degree in Food Technology, Nutrition, or any related course
- At least 5 years of experience in product development, research and development, and/or quality assurance, preferably in the food or dairy industry
- Strong knowledge of product development, quality assurance, and process optimization
- Skilled in documentation and technical reporting
- Ability to research and analyze industry trends and innovations
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Detail-oriented, analytical, and innovative mindset
- Training in food technology, quality systems, or product development methodologies is an advantage
