Qualifications

• Fluent, professional level verbal communication in English and Mandarin.
• Understanding of medical interpreting and its ethics.
• Willingness to complete a medical interpreting proficiency assessment.
• Cultural responsiveness within the US healthcare context.
• Reliability, good judgement, and customer-service mindset.
• Comfort with remote technology and video platforms.
• Able to pass background and drug screening.
• Home workspace that is private and secure.

Responsibilities

• Provide accurate video interpreting between English and Mandarin, with occasional phone sessions.
• Ensure faithful communication without adding or omitting meaning.
• Follow interpreter ethics, standards, and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and comply with healthcare privacy requirements.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and respect diverse patient backgrounds.
• Maintain professional conduct before, during and after sessions.
